New superhero show on Amazon Prime, geared towards adult audiences. Complete with graphic violence and strong sexual content, it shows the darker side of super heroes if they were profitable assets run by a company where everyone isn't lawful good 100% of their superhero career.I still have two episodes left but the show is great. Reminds me a bit of Watchmen if the civilians in their universe looked up to them as celebrities rather than people to be feared. Although there is still a "Who watches the Watchmen?" vibe.

Loved Season 1, last episode was wild. I was at the SDCC panel 2 weeks ago and they announced they were already done filming half of S2. So really hoping we don't have to wait a full year for the next season but wouldn't be surprised if it just became a new season each Summer. #TeamStarlight

Yeah, I’ve just got 2 episodes left as well and have found it pretty enjoyable *******possible minor spoiler***********I’m assuming/hoping at some point in the last 2 episodes that the fly I’ve noticed buzzing around a couple times will come into play/be addressed ************************
7/29/2019 11:01:08 AM
^lol I noticed that fly too! I thought at first it was a real fly in my living room but after rewinding I saw it again and was like "Why would they leave something so easy to edit out?" I was starting to think maybe it is another hero that can shrink and was listening in on conversations. Also, I've been wondering why there are no super villains. So far all we have seen are heroes vs. terrorists/bank robbers/etc, with the heroes swatting them aside like insects. With that many super powered individuals, none of them are bad guys?
7/29/2019 12:13:38 PM
^That should be addressed in the last 2 episodes. The fly is never addressed but damn if it doesn't, pardon the pun, have the internet buzzing. Black Noir is gold though in S1.

What's the sexual content like in this series? Askin for a friend....
7/30/2019 3:29:58 PM
Limited and not really graphic? At least not in the context of nudity. Some male ass and side-boob from what I can recall.[Edited on July 30, 2019 at 3:49 PM. Reason : .]

If that is your basis for watching or not watching a show, you should probably just not post in entertainment anymore.

****spoilers****I feel like Homelander is gonna straight up get away with rape. Unless they double down on it being consensual. I'm just not really ok with this.****end spoilers****
7/31/2019 8:40:58 AM
****spoilers******^I don't think it was rape. Nothing about the video they showed proves it was rape and nothing about her behavior after really makes me think it was anything but consensual. She smiles when Homelander shows up at the end, she didn't look upset when leaving the room on the video, she was willing to keep the baby and abandon her husband which would be strange if it was rape, etc. I think it's going to be shown that she cheated on her husband with a superhero, a celebrity and icon that people adore, she got knocked up, and she left Billy. Not sure how they're going to handle The Boys vs. Supes in the next one because I feel like they're going to have to shift it to look more at the Super Bads that are being created. Wouldn't mind seeing Billy take Compound-V and slugging it out with Homelander though. ******end spoilers****[Edited on July 31, 2019 at 9:30 AM. Reason : .]

Just finished the season. Holy shit that ending! Didn't expect that at all. I gotta say kudos to the writers for leaving a lot of things still open and not trying to tie up too many storylines. So many questions that I look forward to answers to in S2!
7/31/2019 12:41:13 PM
Billy thought it was rape? I missed that part, i thought it was just emotions from learning that.
7/31/2019 1:03:25 PM
^^Black Noir had some really oddball funny scenes. Him trying to get an appetizer and being ignored, him dancing, him playing the piano, his background video, etc, those were all really odd/peculiar and funny. Even the part where Homelander tells them they're all screwing up except Black Noir, haha.Response to ^***Eh, kinda spoilerish, maybe?****That was literally the entire premise of "The Boys" forming in the first place and him agreeing to work with the CIA. He thought it was forced when he saw that video footage and he thought it led to them killing her, he says as much a couple of times. Really seemed like his ego/love made him believe there's no way she would cheat on him and thus if she came out looking disheveled after 3 hours and was straightening her clothes it had to be that Homelander forced himself on her, especially when she started distancing herself from him at home and seemed shaken by the whole ordeal. Then with her disappearing, he deduced that either Vought took her or killed her to silence her.***End spoilers****

Let's not forget Mallory pretty much focusing his mind on rape rather than any other outcome from that video.
7/31/2019 3:33:12 PM
Did I sleep through that part?
7/31/2019 7:39:13 PM
^Do you mean the Homelander rape part or the Mallory part? Butcher told Hughie that Homelander raped his wife (in Ep 6 or 7 I think). We still don't know the details of what happened with Mallory when she first starting working with Butcher. Just tidbits from Frenchie and Mother's Milk (wtf is with his name?) conversations and in the last episode when Butcher found her bird watching. She very clearly had some kind of beef with Homelander before approaching Butcher though.

I think Billy will go super villan in S2. All his pain is because of one guy now. He'll inject himself with the V2 stuff, change, etc.
8/2/2019 8:13:54 AM
Really good, entertaining show. Hate seeing Elizabeth Shue looking so old.Spoiler:Does anybody know what Billy "showed" the mind-reader guy right before he pummeled his face in? Or is that still left for season 2?
8/5/2019 9:32:54 AM
I think that was simply just Billy showing Mesmer that he was getting ready to kill him.
8/5/2019 10:08:31 AM
^^People age, most of the time not as well as her. She could still get it.

Wooooo. Finally finished the season, so I could read through this.Spoilers VVVVVVVVVVVVVVLoved the deep getting raped and having a classic TV freakout where he shaves his head.Loved Black noir silly touchesHated that Hughie and Annie won't just say out loud that they had feelings for each other (i get it, but i hate that trope, stupid shakespeare setting precedent)Love that Hughie is accidentally great at everything, and that he yells im sorry while shooting at his captors.Bit of a stretch for me when Homelander concluded he had a son based solely on the fact that Shue and the Doctor guy lied to him in different ways. Also, Homelander is a 2-pump chump with Shue. Are we to think it's cause he's so into her? or do i assume that he in fact raped becca, because nobody "[came] 3 times" with a minute man.if it's the latter, she signed NDA and chose to leave billy? And as I worship Kevin Smith, how did Homelander's load not decimate her box?I do like the idea of Billy mainlining some compound V, but as homelander mentioned, it doesnt work well with adult subjects.
8/5/2019 3:59:17 PM
8/5/2019 4:19:43 PM
^Also, Homelander can hear variations in people's heartbeat and can pick up on other small ticks. He may just be very adept at telling when people are lying about something that he could kill them over.

great show, really enjoyed it and echo the comments above. I like the motivations of all the characters, they have done a good job setting everyone up.why would homelander not kill billy after showing him becca? Perhaps becca does something to save billy?also MM's girl called him Marvin when she left. It is a weird ass nickname.
8/7/2019 11:25:18 PM
The only thing that annoys me about this show is Karl Urban's horrific accent.
8/8/2019 1:46:36 PM
I think Homelander saves Billy because it’s the ultimate ‘fuck you’ to show him that, not only did he bang his girl, he knocked her up. Really rubs some salt in the wound.
8/8/2019 8:38:36 PM
Right, Homelander could have easily killed Billy but he kills people every day and wouldn't get any satisfaction from it. This way he gets to mentally torture Billy knowing that his entire motivation was for nothing.
8/8/2019 9:30:37 PM
this show is messed up
8/9/2019 12:10:16 PM
I think Homelander is also a little impressed with Billy, while also not fearful of him at all. He (and the boys) managed to kill a Supe, and one of the 7 at that, something that had never been done.
8/9/2019 12:31:11 PM
Finished it on my lunch break. I enjoyed it, but I don't really see where "The Boys" fit in for the future.. Hughie was already over it, MM just wants his family, Billy shouldn't have anything to fight for. Sure the supes are doing bad shit, but it's not like those normies should be any help
8/9/2019 3:55:11 PM
I think they are maybe setting up The Deep to go off the deep and become a villain, and the boys might be needed somehow to help stop him.
8/9/2019 9:47:58 PM
I just think they are trying to show the Deep is ridden with insecurity because he thinks he’s a joke of a dupe. Add to that he has no human friends. It’s a bit weird to see a character do sexual assault episode 1 and then be comic relief in the back half of the season. But I think the point is to show why someone would ultimately do something so shitty to start off with. I think he’ll continue to be harmless and more likely end up one of the good guys. My money is on Seven Vs Supervillains in S2. Then, ultimately it’s everyone vs Homelander & Son.

Wife and kids were out of the house last night so I got to binge the last five episodes. It was so good!

Obviously not what I would do if the wife and kids were out of the house, but good for you.
9/1/2019 3:57:29 PM
9/27/2019 12:44:20 PM
^Not really though? You don't see them robbing banks or trying to be evil or anything. I'd say more than anything they are just apathetic. Homelander could rule the world if he wanted to, but he just doesn't care. If he were a supervillain, he would care.
9/27/2019 10:28:27 PM
homelander is definitely evil. and the vought corporation is definitely the villain in the story. there aren't "supervillains" (other than the supe terrorist they show at the end) because they don't serve the needs of the company. this show isn't a show about superheroes so much as a show about a big fucking evil corporation/private military contractor.also i really enjoy how they rip on ohio a lot.

10/7/2019 11:30:24 AM
Yeah, no.
10/7/2019 12:01:48 PM
lol, Billy HATES Homelander. No way he would be teaming up with him. His only beef with Vought is that it funds/encourages Homelander. I don't think he has anything personal against them.
10/7/2019 12:09:57 PM
Also Homelander is fucking evil
