I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Part superhero, part Indiana Jones.Jason Momoa fits the part pretty well I think.

I expected Aquaman to be awful, and shockingly enough it was enjoyable. Couldn't tell if it was just because I had such low expectations or if because it was just genuinely a well done movie.

It is not a genuinely well done movie. It was fine, entertaining enough, I have zero desire to ever watch it again,

I think part of what made it enjoyable was that they moved away from the dark and gritty atmosphere they tried so hard to push forward in Man of Steel/BvS/Justice League. If you look at those movies, they are all so grey and bleak, but Aquaman was colorful and had lots of jokes. A lot like most of the Marvel movies, which clearly do a lot better than the DC movies lately. The best parts of the Justice League movie in my opinion was The Flash, and his parts were fun/colorful too. Dark works for Batman, but not for the other DC heroes.

After watching it a second time, I do have one question. These Atlantians seems to have an unlimited ability to move underwater without really swimming. That being said, why do they ride animals? I could see maybe animals equipped with weapons, but a lot of them just putter around on seahorses and such.

Because riding a giant hammerhead shark is bad ass

Maybe the animals can swim faster or go longer distances than them? But that also makes me think -- why are the giant seahorses limited to Atlantis? Shouldn't they be all over the oceans?
