So while at work today one of the teachers told a kid he has 3 more sentences before he is cut off. That made me think...

What if in the future we have the ability to limit the speech of children? Like teachers could limit their students to a certain number of words per class period. Or parents could turn off the speech function of their children altogether.

Once the children hit 18 they will have control over their speech control but for job interviews or for different social functions (like speed dating or themed parties) the adults could put in the rules that there is only a certain amount of words that may be spoken.

I think that would be cool.

It would also suck.

How about this twist:

Say it's a parent or teacher that actually puts the word enforcer on the kid. The parent/teacher has an emergency and dies because the kid can't communicate some useful information on time.
