Here we go again. It's 2019 and time to reset the book reading challenge. Let's all try to read one book a week this year, but if that's too much just list whatever you read because reading is fun. Also, try to rate the books you finish from 1 to 10 so other people can see what might be a good book to pick up.

I won't be able to keep up with this, but thought I'd share. I'm usually a prolific reader but in the last couple years I have not dedicated the time to reading. Last year I only completed Ready Player One, and that took me like six months from start to finish. My wife and kids both read it in that time and were just waiting for me so we could watch the movie, which we already had. I read it after Christmas and we finally watched the movie (ugh).

As a Christmas gift I got the first three books of the Expanse trilogy. Starting 1/1/19 I sat down and started reading Leviathan Wakes. It was a fucking page turner and I stayed up until 1 or later on a couple of nights and finished it in five days. I'm on to book two now hope I can keep up the momentum. Either way I've already surpassed my reading of 2018, which is both good and bad. Anyways sorry for the blog post.

In the last round of power outages, I finally finished Here to Get My Baby out of Jail. It was super good, but I did have to put it down for a bit cause parts were devastating.

Also, while reading, battery acid dripped on me a little, so I've learned to keep the flashlights clean and empty.

Next hurricane season, I plan to finish The Neighbors. By 2020, I might read A Whistling Woman, but it's currently working really well for me as a coaster.

I have no idea if people here are familiar with this, but back in 1980 a Radford University student, Gina Renee Hall, went missing. Stephen Epperly was arrested and convicted for her murder but the body was never found; it was Virginia's first (and as far as I know only) murder conviction without a body. I grew up in Radford and was 10 years old at the time and had some fairly close connections with some of the people involved--Epperly's family were friends of my parents, Epperly had taken Hall to a cabin on the lake that belonged to the uncle of my next door neighbor at the time; I seem to remember she once told me she saw the cabin the day after and it was covered in blood, but I may be misremembering that. Around here you can still hear people debate about what happened to the body. This book just came out recently and is about the history of it and speculation on what happened to the body.
