Has anyone flown on Frontier Air Lines before? They have a super cheap flight to Cancun and curious what the catch is, other than paying for checked baggage and carry on baggage fees. Didn't know if it was like RyanAir in Europe where you pay by the pound or pay to use the bathroom. Seems too good to be true for a direct flight to and from Cancun for $225 after taxes/fees.

Don't get to choose your seats, I think they're assigned at check-in. if you have to make changes to the reservations you have to pay them to talk to them.

Get what you pay for. My only big deal with Frontier was that I was coming back from SD to RDU through Denver and our flight leaving SD was delayed a few hours, which was getting really close to whether or not we'd miss our connecting flight. Frontier made it EXTREMELY clear that if we missed that flight they didn't work with any other companies and I'd have to wait for their next flight to RDU(5 days later). Luckily I was able to run across the terminal(they were literally across from each other so it was convenient) and caught my 2nd flight and nothing became of it. But we were already trying to figure out car rentals and such to get back to Raleigh instead of waiting 5 days.

DON'T FLY WITH THEM!I bought tickets with them last year from SFO to Houston direct for $99 each way, which is awesome, but obviously too good to be true. I was flying a red eye Thursday night, because I had a wedding rehearsal dinner Friday eve at 7PM, so I figured it would be plenty of time to get there and settled.I bought the tix like 4-5 months out, and didn't really think about it. Fast forward to maybe 2-3 weeks before the flight, and they decide to cancel it, and rebooked me on another flight without even telling me. I didn't even get an email, but I have TripIt PRO so I noticed the discrepancy on my app when looking up something else. The new flight was for Friday leaving at noon, and getting in that evening, which obviously wouldn't work. I called to bitch about the bait and switch and was on hold forever and then hung up on multiple times. I kept telling them how fucked up it was that I didn't even get any notification or anything, and they didn't care. I know better than to scream or yell at CSR, so I kept escalating it politely, and finally they were able to "accommodate me"They rerouted me to Denver so that I landed at 11:00 PM Thursday night, and then I had to catch a 7:30am flight the next morning. I had to pay for an Uber and a hotel, because at this point, flights on other carriers were insanely expensive, and I didn't want to look like dog shit the next day by sleeping in the airport. I still had a direct flight on the way home, which was 'nice' since I got what I paid for, but I ended up paying way more than if I had just booked on SWA or United, when all the seats/baggage/hotel/uber were factored in.The flights themselves are barebones, which I don't really care about, but I will NEVER fly them again because of how shitty of an experience it was.

I flew from RDU to Las Vegas with them earlier this year for $99. The next cheapest flight was around $225. I didn't have a tight schedule and was aware up front of what I was possibly getting into, so for 2 people the savings were worth their crappiness. The seats are definitely tighter than the major airlines and pretty thin and uncomfortable. They will nickle-and-dime you on anything you can think of.Their on-time performance is not great. My flight was delayed 3 hours because of a tire issue. They apparently put off maintenance until they absolutely have to, leading to situations like that. We were so late arriving, we had to wait on the tarmac another 40 minutes for a gate to open up.

If you're not checking a bag and your flight is short, they're fine. Otherwise, you pay $30-40 per bag each way (including overhead bins), and the seat will make your butt go numb. The seats are also very small, and no legroom, so if you sit next to a big person, have fun cuddling.[Edited on September 21, 2018 at 4:32 PM. Sounds like a great plan to get in trouble with wifey.

even though i've never had an issue with them, i'll add that i wouldn't trust them on flights with connecting flights

frontier is straight garbage. if im going on vacation, im not trying to show up sore from shit seats and have my mood screwed up before I even get there. there's a hidden opportunity cost of flying garbage airlines too. its not like you're gonna get bumped to first class and meet a great business prospect. you're more likely to get the flu from a college student

I fly Frontier to/from Denver a couple times a year. I've had one bad experience where the red eye back was delayed 6 hours for reasons I never found out, but they automatically sent my girlfriend and I $100 vouchers each. When I flew back from Denver a couple weeks ago, I paid $8.75 with seat choice, a checked bag, and a carry-on (after $100 off)!If you can afford to pay a little more, I'd definitely prefer to fly with one of the other non-discount airlines, but if it's a non-stop flight within the US, I'd still take the deal.

^That reminded me. Because of my big issue with almost missing my connecting flight, I did what any 30-year old would do...I tweeted about it. They actually emailed me a voucher covering both tickets I had purchased. It still needs to be used but honestly not sure how much I trust using them again unless it's something fairly short and direct.

Everyone I know that flys frontier regularly has talked about delayed or cancelled flights.Cancelled flights are the worst, they'll rebook you, but the next flight is days later, which means most people end up just booking on another airline.

I figure this thread is a setup for douche bag to brag about flying in a private jet or some shit.

^^had a buddy coming to visit from Philly (Trenton airport) and the flight didn't have the sales they wanted so they just canceled it with next to no notice. My experiences with Frontier are on par with European budget airlines but with shittier customer service. Gotta read the fine print and avoid their little scams (like having to pay to print your boarding pass)
