I've always admired the Surface tablets, but felt they were too expensive for what they were.Anybody interested in the Go? It's a scaled down version of the Surface Pro with a Pentium processor rather than a Core I series processor. Starting at 399 (379 for students, parents of students, or teachers). By the time you buy the keyboard and stylus you're paying as much as a mid-range laptop, so I wonder if it is worth it.Thoughts?

I'd buy a used/refurb Surface, but not this Pentium powered one.

I've owned a surface pro 3 (i5, 64/4) + a surface pro 4 (i5, 128/8) and I must say, they are far superior than the laptops I've owned (dell xps...various models, asus, acer, lenovo, etc.) in terms of build quality. There's something to be said about performance when the company owns both the hardware and software. That said...I'm interested in the Go for my wife if her Dell Latitude dies. Hell, might even get one for myself just to see if I like the form-factor better than my pro.

The surface book is still the one that gets me bothered, but my Nexus 9 is getting intolerably slow. While I'd definitely consider one of these, equal money I'd kinda lean toward a used pro.

So it sounds like the consensus here is a used Pro is >>> than a new Go.I'm looking at it for my daughter, who is in elementary school, and I won't lie, I wouldn't mind seeing what one is like. We certainly be a power user, so I'm wondering if the Pentium would do for us.[Edited on July 11, 2018 at 10:21 PM. Reason : asda]

I'm sure it will be fine for a 8-9 y/oBetter a tablet than a laptop

go to a brick and mortar store and mess around with one

how are you using it? this will almost certainly be a worse tablet than android or iOS, will probably not make a good laptop, and unless you're already in the Office 365 ecosystem will probably be a worse internet device than something like a chromebook

it's not the best puncher, or the best kicker, but it can both punch and kick.

Best Buy had a bundle deal where you get the Pro i5, 128 GB and a signature cover for 799, so I picked that up.I love this thing so far.
