You have equal number of smart devices that work with both. I'm pretty sure the Phillips HUE stuff works with both. If you like Ecobee thermostats, they come with Alexa built into them now. I use the Alexa ecosystem because I think I would rather have a glorified store listen to my every word rather than the borg that will eventually control us all.

I wish there were some type of standard IOT protocol that would allow all of these smart devices to talk to all of the..."controllers?" Like Alexa, Google Home, Siri, etc.

I didn't find too much. I picked up another fire stick for the tv on the back deck. I almost picked up another dot too because if you buy it with the fire stick you save another $5, so $45 total for the two.

^ I know you're posting that because of the price, but those are some AMAZEBALLS HDMI cables. For those of us that use HDMI pass through for the audio, the difference is somewhere in the neighborhood between a 1980 Cadillac Seville and your garden variety Lotus 7-type clone track-monster.

Crisp treble is one of the places I really hear the difference...little stuff like the details of enunciation of words. Percussion is another place it's more audible. Shitty cables sounds like a film has been removed from the recording. I listen over AppleTV Airplay (lossless as far as I know, unlike Bluetooth), played over a $2000 receiver into $6000 worth of electrostatic speakers, plus a decent Klipsch subwoofer. (I got it all for about half-price. It's really, really good high-end stuff, although I wouldn't say exotic level, other than being electrostatic, which is kinda off the beaten path).

If you ever get really serious about your audio/home theater, I'd recommend going with seperates instead of a receiver. It'll be a little more money (on a bill that's already crazy), but you will be more future-proofed and probably have better equipment. I bought a beast receiver (Yamaha RX-A 3010), but what happens when 4k becomes the standard? I'm boned. I'll have to buy a new rx, as if the TV won't be enough! Yamaha's Aventage line kills it in terms of playing music, though, at least to my ear. I was floored at how much difference there was in the way they sounded. The Aventage sounded so good, I thought, that it pretty much squashed my ideas about going with separates--I didn't want to spend an extra couple thousand bucks and not be sure I'd even match--let alone improve on--how much I liked the Aventage. I got the flagship RX-A3010, and even at 150w per channel, and bi-amped to the fronts at that, I was a little concerned that I might want more power for my MLs. I think that was unfounded after hearing it, haha--I tried to see if I could make it audibly distort, and I never got anywhere near full grunt from it before I just couldn't stand to be in the room anymore.

In short, buy those cables.

I ended up going back and getting the Amazon Blink XT outdoor HD security camera for $75. Says it won't deliver until September though . Pretty crazy that is says it will run on 2 AA batteries for 2 years.
