John Mulaney is not funny.

I love Spider-Ham. It's a shame he looks so doofy in this, but I get it. The comics from the 80s were beautiful, tho.

Amazing moviePost credit scene was as funny of one of those as I've ever seen.

The visual style of this movie is incredible. It has a very mixed-media feel, even from shot to shot. Loved the way that narrative captions and sound effects were weaved into scenes. Loved that each of the Spider-characters had their own animation design, particularly Peni's lip sync and Spider-Ham's traditional animation style.I left the theater wanting more and convinced more than ever that we need an animated Fantastic Four feature.

Honestly how many Spider-Man movies are necessary?
12/17/2018 12:53:36 PM
I need Spider-Man movies more than I need your fucking ass.
12/17/2018 2:20:22 PM
I've tried looking around for the answer and what I've found has been vague. Does this tie into the MCU at all?
12/18/2018 8:58:16 AM
^As far as I've heard, it does not. Just a standalone Spider-Man movie. I'm pretty sure the Marvel film studio had nothing to do with it's release. That being said, however, the whole movie is about Spider-Man across different dimensions. It wouldn't be far-fetched to just consider the MCU that we know to be another dimension in this story.

When the Peter Parker of Miles's Earth is recounting his background story in the beginning, there are shots that are clear references to the other Sony Spider-flicks, but it's a different Peter Parker entirely (not really a spoiler). The idea, I guess, is that there's a lot of consistency among certain universes' Spider-Men.I want to say that the ferry sequence from Homecoming was one of those shots, but that technically isn't an MCU connection since it happened in a different universe to a different Spider-Man.

Finally went to see it today, this movie was fantastic.

Yes, but this animated film series has nothing to do with that universe. Sony wanted to have a Spider-Man series independent of the marvel stuff, so they did this.]
1/22/2019 9:26:28 PM
That is a totally different statement but still kinda wrong
1/22/2019 9:50:12 PM
Marvel Studios was the creative lead on Homecoming and Far from Home, they had nothing to do with this one other than Marvel getting credit for being the company where the character of Spider-Man was created
1/22/2019 9:51:16 PM
I hope that spoderman is in the sequel
1/22/2019 10:53:02 PM
They portraited some scenes only animation can describe.
2/4/2019 8:25:29 AM
"Portrayed," shoot.

Sorry.

It wins the Oscar for the best animated feature film!
2/25/2019 8:51:32 AM
I saw this last Friday and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Having seen both Into the Spider-Verse and Ralph Breaks the Internet, if any Oscar voter saw both of those films and actually voted for Ralph, they should lose their voting privileges for next year.

I was impressed

Watched this again on TV the other day. The animation looks way, way better on a small screen compared to in theaters. Like it's night and day how much better it is. Clearly they made this with streaming in mind because it looked shitty on the big screen.
2/20/2022 12:11:17 PM
YOU ARE CRAZYthat movie was like watching the future and was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen on the big screen
2/24/2022 2:19:32 PM
If the future is terrible, then yes it was like watching the future. Also, this movie did the pointing spiderman meme waaaaay better than that dumb picture making the rounds of all the live action actors doing it ]
2/25/2022 2:49:18 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-wUKu_V2LkI can respect all of the animation styles that went into it regardless of screen size. This movie was extremely well done.
2/28/2022 1:04:18 PM
I mean, the things they were doing with different frame rates and hand-drawn on top of the cgi was so simplistically innovative that I came out inspired like crazy, and that almost never happens with me and mainline Marvel stuff. But perhaps it's like math. If you don't know what's happening behind the numbers, it might not impress you as much.
2/28/2022 2:49:20 PM
facts. there are even single-digit frame, hand-drawn scenes that the viewers aren't even aware of throughout the movie! the attention to detail is unreal
