Might as well get this fired as the dominos already start to fall. Andy Kennedy, member of our 1987 ACC Championship team, is stepping down from his head coaching position at Ole Miss at the end of the year. He had been there for 12 seasons and was the winningest coach in school history.

Discussed in KKs thread, but Kevin Stallings out at Pitt.

Gottfried to Cal State North Ridge. #328 / 351 teams in Kenpom
3/12/2018 5:07:41 PM
Good for him. Kinda surprised to see him hired while the DSJ stuff is still out there. But I hope he does well
3/12/2018 5:43:34 PM
so is Colorado State gonna hire Becky Hammon?
3/12/2018 9:33:45 PM
I pass through Northridge from time to time...pretty meh kind of place.
3/12/2018 9:47:21 PM
i googled cal state northridge women and got a pic of their volleyball team, which coincidentally was probably the exact same research gott did before accepting the job

3/21/2018 1:22:14 PM
How is he allowed to coach anywhere?
3/21/2018 2:06:24 PM
No NCAA violations against him at this point, right? Seems inevitable. But none yet, I don’t think.
3/21/2018 2:10:47 PM
Louisville job officially open
3/21/2018 2:37:53 PM
is someone gonna offer speculation on the million dollar question?
3/21/2018 3:49:36 PM
I know it's Louisville and all, but dang, they about to get HAMMERED and you'd expect the next coach to struggle for a couple years, get fired, and someone else be hired after the sanctions clear.
3/21/2018 3:52:07 PM
^^do you mean KK and UL? speculate all you want...because speculation is all there is to go on at this point. there doesn't really seem to be any reason to worry at this point
3/21/2018 5:27:12 PM
Mack will go to UL. I love Keatts but if you are going to go for a relative unknown at a top tier school (his one amazing season of overachieving here aside) why not just stay with Padgett?Saw Goodman say Danny Hurley to UConn is done. Was worried they fell so far so fast they wouldn’t be a prime gig for a sought after coach but I guess with the intermediate term history and new facilities they are.
3/22/2018 7:59:18 AM
UConn is the best job open this cycle. Louisville would easily be better but all the impending legal/NCAA trouble will keep top tier guys away from that job.

Jeff Capel to Pitt. The dream of Herb a triumphant return and becoming the hometown hero is dead.[Edited on March 27, 2018 at 12:12 PM. Reason : I got the wrong Capel]
3/27/2018 12:11:56 PM
This is good for us on two fronts. First, Capel was Duke's lead recruiter and responsible for most of their 5 star signings. Second, Capel proved to be a mediocre coach during his time at Oklahoma. So he probably will make Pitt better, but not great.
3/27/2018 1:15:02 PM
Well, he can't make them worse
3/27/2018 1:33:36 PM
Mack to LouisvilleSaw from Jonathan Jones (Though he is a UNC Alum) that Zion hasn't signed his LOI yet, so Capel to Pitt could get interesting.
3/27/2018 3:18:39 PM
3/27/2018 3:29:58 PM
Zion was never going to sign a LOI, he isn't going to Pitt. He wanted to stay close to home, it's why Clemson was in the running, he isn't going that far for a one year deal.
3/27/2018 3:46:35 PM
3/27/2018 3:49:52 PM

LMAO gg running off Wiseman guys.
3/28/2018 8:11:34 AM
I wouldn't really say Capel going to Pitt helps us at all. Capel is Gott v2.0. At OU he took over a solid program, was an awesome recruiter, then when he got all of his guys in and started losing 1-and-done guys, his program fell apart and he got canned. I'm thinking he might have learned his lesson on just recruiting the elite guys and filling out a roster under K, so I'm thinking he'll have a better stint at Pitt. Duke is going to be a powerhouse program until Coach K retires. That is the ONLY point at which Duke might regress.

(i didn't think wiseman was that bad, but i know i'm in the minority)
3/29/2018 6:57:20 AM
Wiseman wasn't a local. He doesn't understand us.
3/29/2018 7:49:35 AM
He was fine. You people are why everyone else thinks we're insane.
3/29/2018 9:42:09 AM
giglio is/was really good. wiseman was fine.
3/29/2018 10:41:53 AM
I didn't buy into all that silly hate shit that alot of state fans gave him and it was beginning to get ridiculous in that everything wiseman said was being construed as state hate, but Giglio is way more than fine. Part of the hate was because with/without the "anti-state" bias, he simply wasn't as good of a writer/tweeter/etc. as Giglio. Hell, I kept following Giglio this season while he was on the UNC beat and I enjoyed his UNC coverage more than Wiseman's state coverage. Wiseman had no humor, no personality and added nothing to watching the games IMO.[Edited on March 29, 2018 at 10:45 AM. Reason : ^yeah basically. ]
3/29/2018 10:43:55 AM
He is a perfectly good writer. I wouldn't say Giglio is really much better at that. Giglio clearly interacts with fanbases his Twitter account much, much more effectively. The lunatic fringe just freaked out about that one tweet he made when the change was first announced and the dude had no chance of winning over the loud crazies on the internet. I honestly feel sorry for him.
3/29/2018 11:03:00 AM
I didn't say his writing was bad. It was fine. And yes, he got an unfair shake from the twitter loonies. That said even just from a writing perspective, Giglio has consistently done pieces on player backstories or interesting statistical analysis. He asks coaches harder questions. Wiseman gave a straight reporting of the facts. Nothing wrong with that per se, but for those of us who have eyeballs and watch the games, there is nothing he added.
3/29/2018 1:28:15 PM
Moton interviewed with ECU but is staying at NCCU.
3/29/2018 2:02:24 PM
seems like a smart move for moton to stay, imo. he's got it made at NCCU for now...ECU is gonna be a tough job, possibly a dead end job unless he succeeds immediately there. he can't really make the jump from MEAC to P5, imo, but he can be relatively picky about which mid-major jobs he wants to take. if his ultimate goal is to coach in the ACC (total speculation on my part) then i don't think the best way to get there is by taking the ECU job.
3/29/2018 4:20:22 PM
Wiseman had a tendency to start articles by pointing out the pain points from the past few years. In an article about the latest acc win he would start like "NC State, which hasn't won more than 4 ACC games in 3 years" or in an article about about playing duke he would start "NC State is 2-18 in the past 20 matchups with Duke". Yes it's true, but I don't want to be reminded of this every time I read a state article. That was my beef and frustration with wiseman.
