^^which exam did you take?^some folks had huge suitcases of stuff. i had a little tote bag like they give out at conventions for gathering free shit. you don't really need many references for the ME thermal and fluids exam.[Edited on December 6, 2017 at 9:18 PM. Reason : sD]
12/6/2017 9:16:53 PM
I did ME HVAC and Refrigeration. I was one of those people who had a large check in size suitcase full of books. I had to bring in ASHRAE references along with MERM and come code books. The guy on my left (another Civil guy) brought in a TI 83 calculator. He had no idea there was a list of approved calculators, I couldn't risk giving him my extra calculator, luckily the guy on my right had 2 extra calculators. Its amazing how clueless some people are for such a big test.
12/7/2017 8:22:57 AM
Makes you wonder if he studied for the test at all

How did they let you get a job if you didn't pass PE? That's like high school level. Did you not dress out?

Anybody have a PE study course they’d highly recommend? Preferably online, but I’d look at other options.
6/22/2019 4:00:21 PM
I did all self study. Several colleagues have recommended School of PE. I watched their sample lessons and they moved way too slow. I decided I would rather speed through the stuff I know and spend more time on the stuff I don't know instead of spending equal time on everything. Worked for me.
6/22/2019 9:11:06 PM
^^ Highly recommend School of PE. The live streaming lessons are engaging and interactive. I followed their advice to the t and passed.
6/24/2019 10:35:31 AM
I did self study using the PPI study books and practice exams (https://ppi2pass.com/). But I also had some old VHS tapes from a coworker of a Clemson professor working through problems that helped a lot too.

I just studied the "Civil Engineering Reference Manual for the PE Exam" by Michael Lindenburg. It's a huge book that has everything in it. I'd recommened it. I think I only brought it and one or two other specialized books in to take the test.
6/26/2019 10:54:41 AM
The Lindenburgh Reference Manual is huge and it will take you forever to learn everything in it. I made the mistake of wasting 3 months trying to master it. You need to learn only certain sections of it and that is where the School of PE was helpful for me.

I shall remain EI(T)
6/27/2019 7:09:29 AM
Well, you got your PHD so you should be good. I'd lead with that instead of EIT.
6/27/2019 9:55:27 AM
^had to re-read post before it sank in.
6/27/2019 2:54:06 PM
ITRE has the best PE prep class out there
6/27/2019 8:35:35 PM
We all up in here giving recommendations when we don't even know what discipline the dude is taking.
6/27/2019 8:42:39 PM
Civil - water resources Leaning strongly toward School of PE after looking around some and getting recommendations. I like the self-paced/self-study idea, I was actually surprised out how many people recommended that route, but I also think having everything organized in a class that I can self pace in might be best middle ground for me (I’m gonna need assignments to crack the whip and get me studying.)
