So I get that this is [old], but I was not up to speed on all the drama that took place during the 2015 Secret Santa. I only came across it now while looking through the old Secret Santa threads to see if I could find any good ideas. The BanjoMan drama suddenly cleared something of a mystery for me even as it added another, deeper mystery, about what the hell is wrong with BanjoMan.The first mystery revolved around these PMs I got from BanjoMan last year:You can see why I was confused. I wasn't participating in Secret Santa in 2016. I didn't know what he wanted to prove with photography. I hadn't expressed any willingness to mail anything to him. And although I did know BanjoMan in real life from college, it was probably a decade since I'd seen him in person or interacted with him significantly. But, what the hell, he was asking permission to send me free shit without expecting anything in return. As you can no doubt infer from his side of the exchange, I said, "Sure."Would you like to guess what happened? That's right - nothing ever arrived. No "pictures from the post office" and certainly no gift. Which is fine. Again, this wasn't an exchange, so it wasn't like I was getting shafted. By mid-January the thing was totally forgotten. But now I'm reading about all this with bbehe and Fhqwhgads and it's like, "Oh. He was trying to redeem himself for 2015. I guess that makes sense." Or it's like that for three tenths of a second before my brain kicks in. "No, you fuckwit, it doesn't make any sense at all because he didn't redeem himself because he didn't fucking send you anything." (I'm not always very nice to myself)So now the mystery has gone from "What was he talking about?" to "What sort of bizarre psychological condition compels a person to do this?"If you promised a gift and failed to deliver, that could be an honest mistake. If you then lie about having gotten something, that makes you kind of a shit, but yours is a shittiness I can understand. But to do this repeatedly, and to no discernible gain...that suggests mental disorders. And the man lives (or lived) in the one country in the world where you can't blame it on incompetent postal service. Had he claimed to be in West Africa, it never would have occurred to me that the package would actually arrive. I've never heard of anyone successfully mailing so much as a letter from there. When I sent some postcards from a recent trip to France I thought, "Hell, it's France. The wine-swilling cheese-munchers down at the Postal Union will probably go on strike and burn all the mail to protest losing one of their 360 annual vacation days," and I was pleasantly surprised when everything arrived in timely fashion. France is not known for its rigid attention to detail and bureaucratic form, but it managed. But Germany is Germany. The last time a postal carrier lost a package there was 1979, and he promptly walked into the Baltic to drown himself. So anyway, this thread doesn't really contribute anything to the rich tapestry of human discourse, but it does throw a panel on the TWW Drama Quilt. And I can settle for that.[Edited on November 20, 2017 at 9:41 PM. Reason : Sorry I'm still too dumb to post pictures correctly][Edited on November 20, 2017 at 9:42 PM. Reason : ]

For a minute I was like "Holy shit they were having the exact same chatterbox conversation in 2016 that they are now!"...lol

I, too, initially thought of the chatterbox components being from 2016. My brain is right to abuse me.
