So what? It's not surprising, it's not illegal, and unfortunately for Trump, some of the allegations have been verified by the FBI.Funny how all this Uranium talk about HRC has picked up steam during the last day or so.Rich people with vendettas are par for the course, especially when it comes to politics.

We've known this for at least a year now...?It was Jeb Bush's campaign that initially funded it, when Jeb dropped out, the DNC picked up the funding.

^^ didn't overlook itwhy do you think all of these Republicans are coming out crazy against Trump? When he said he was against the establishment, that included Republicans.

How is this a scandal? It’s oppo through a domestic research firm picked up by Dems after the GOP stopped funding it post-primary. Isn’t this kind of SOP.Also, it’s been known for a loooonnnngggg time. What am I missing?https://twitter.com/clarajeffery/status/922997687737188353[Edited on October 25, 2017 at 8:47 AM. It's not, just the new smokescreen for the mid-week 'news' cycle.

I presume they'll file a similar complaint against the GOPers who initiated the whole thing and paid for it prior to the left picking up the tab?
10/25/2017 11:48:26 PM
The only outrageous thing here is if Clinton paid for it why didn't we know about everything before the election. This was a terrible waste of some oppo research[Edited on October 25, 2017 at 11:58 PM. Reason : ]

My guess - once it was handed over to the FBI it was one of those "do not speak about this" type things.Remember, they were concerned about people changing the way they communicated if it was ever released they were under surveillance. I think that may have actually happened with Paul Manafort, though I can't remember when the article was published where I think I read that. But yea - you don't use something this serious in your campaign against someone, you let the authorities investigate and prosecute.

the dossier was rough work product of a contractor of a contractor of a law firm so it's hard to know when and if they saw the full dossier also, one interesting part of this "new bombshell" that people like kdogg are glancing over is that the FBI found Steele credible enough that they wanted to pay him to continue to investigate before he was made public
10/26/2017 9:15:33 AM
The whole late October timeline is strange:Funding to steele/fusion ends in late October 2016First reporting of the dossier on oct 31 2016, reports it was handed over to the FBI:http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/10/veteran-spy-gave-fbi-info-alleging-russian-operation-cultivate-donald-trump/Within hours of that piece, NYTimes posts article, sourced from the FBI claiming no evidence of Russian ties:https://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/11/01/us/politics/fbi-russia-election-donald-trump.htmlMeanwhile the FBI is literally trying to pay Steele for info? This is why none of this got enough traction during the campaign.

why are we still focused on Hillary?ISIS is coming and the US may push for new North Korea Sanctions

The rightwing media machine is far more influential and greater at creating narratives and stories then the liberal media is..
10/26/2017 11:48:34 AM
^^^I think you may be mislead by the phrasing. The article you're talking about from the NY Times, I believe, is this: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/01/us/politics/fbi-russia-election-donald-trump.htmlIn which it says:

A) I'm pretty sure our links are the same article, except I posted the mobile link by accidentB) yes I understand the careful language in the article. Now, you should take a time machine back to November 2016 and pay careful attention to how that article was used as a wet blanket on every single incidence of "smoke" related to the Trump-Russia dumpster fire. On the very first page of the Trump-Russia thread JCE2011 posted a derivative article that uses the same language (same source article). You immediately chided him on the carefulness of the language contained in the article then too. JCE was a clown, but he was a clown highly in tune with the right-wing excuse machine. That article was plastered everywhere and hung over all reporting on the subject for months (the reality is the article only needed to seem legit for the 8 days before the election).C) the Trump-Russia thread wasn't created until Feb 2017, so I think suggesting informed people were in the know in November 2016 is unrealistic. In fact the subject was being poo-pooed on this board (pretty liberal place compared to the rest of the nation) even through Feb 2017. Just look at how careful dtownral felt he needed to be in the OG post by labeling what was facts vs. what were claims, just to ensure the thread would be taken seriously. That article is exhibit A on the dereliction of both the FBI and our media ecosystem.

A - Missed that, gotcha.B - I follow this stuff as one of my interests so I've been paying attention for a long time which is probably why I noticed all of the other articles over the months (which def would have lead me to chiding JCE).C -

I know this is beating a dead horse, but it has just been unbelievable how quickly this spread across RW media and how hard they are hammering it right now. FoxNews, the Trump administration, even the WSJ are basically just "lock her up" chants right now.
10/29/2017 11:27:51 AM
Yea they're pushing it hard. It's going to be interesting to see how much more aggressive they go once they know who is being arrested tomorrow.
10/29/2017 11:33:21 AM
They are incredible at creating and driving home a narrative..
10/29/2017 11:34:15 AM
I see ppl calling it the Clinton-obama dossier— how is obama getting dragged into this
10/29/2017 11:44:57 AM
^probably just to ensure they capture both the Clinton and Obama derangement syndrome demographics, even though the overlap is pretty significant. What's really concerning is what comes next. People just eat some of this bullshit up. Surely some of these media pushing it have to give up at some point? Right?
