Someone pulled off the scam of a lifetime on a barren island in the Bahamas. Charge $12000 promising a luxury music festival event, then run off with all the money, meanwhile everyone showed up for this event with nowhere to sleep, no food, no belongings...

someone being Ja Rule.

^But according to that song he did with Ashanti, he's Always On Time.
4/28/2017 4:04:37 PM
instead he's just Livin It Up

Nigerians stepping up their game.

Between you and me, I think Ja got caught up in some wonderful real life fantasy that imploded. Dude spent too much time in New York instead of the Bahamas and never had time for planning the festival.
4/28/2017 8:54:39 PM
This is why I don't trust people, especially ones axin for my money
4/29/2017 8:03:38 AM
It sounds like a lot of people are getting refunds, so outside of charging an insane amount of money for a ticket, I don't think it was meant to be a scam.
4/29/2017 11:03:24 AM
From a not-sarcastic promotional article about the festival:
4/29/2017 5:48:19 PM
so is it too late to get tickets or
4/29/2017 8:40:57 PM
That itb insider guy was there. pwnt.
4/30/2017 9:00:08 PM
^what gets me is the number of news articles that cited his tweets as documentation. i don't think they realize he isn't a real person.
5/1/2017 9:37:38 AM
i'm okay with anyone spending $12k on this getting ripped off
5/1/2017 9:50:06 AM
^^ he is a real person
5/1/2017 10:13:14 AM
I mean he is a real person and the experience was real, no?His persona is obviously fake and exaggerated but that doesn't make every experience made up.[Edited on May 1, 2017 at 10:14 AM. Reason : ]

There is clearly a person typing it his tweets and a person who traveled to Fyre Festival but William Needham Finley IV is not a real person. When CNN, Washington Post, and the New York Times say that "William Needham Finley IV said xyz" they don't realize that they're referencing a character rather than a person.

who cares?

I think it was awesome to rich entitled pricks get a taste of still better conditions than many face in the world every day.

Did anyone see FYRE on netflix yet? It's a pretty good doc on exactly what went down for this thing.
1/19/2019 8:09:48 PM
saw it on there. planning to watch it soon.
1/19/2019 8:17:12 PM
I do not like how the Billy guy talks. Something weird about it
1/19/2019 9:14:05 PM
Read the Hulu documentary is great as well. That one has a lot of interviews with the fest organizer, workers, his gf and gets more into the fraud. He apparently defrauded more peeps while he was out on bail and dumbingly admits to all this shit in the doc.
1/20/2019 8:29:35 AM
Pretty comical
1/20/2019 4:20:48 PM
Robert Seth crossno II, can you let me borrow some money out of that 5 mil?
1/20/2019 5:17:50 PM
Is the hulu doc out?
1/20/2019 5:57:55 PM
It is out but I didn't like it as much as the Netflix doc.

Watched last night. There were plenty of red flags. Folks got fucked, but I kinda feel like they had it coming.
1/21/2019 9:05:37 AM
i only feel bad for the low level workers and local workers who got screwed
1/21/2019 9:09:03 AM
murda!
1/21/2019 9:16:28 AM
the hulu doc has been posted on youtube if you search for the title
1/21/2019 11:25:14 AM
the hulu film is much better than the netflix film
1/21/2019 1:48:42 PM
I really did feel for the low level workers as well. these people spent so much time and effort and just got screwed. Especially that one lady who lost fifty thousand. I also can't believe he went so straight into running another scam. I could almost validate his choices up until then and also up until learning that he forged financial documentation to lure investment. some may wonder how I could validate his decisions even before then. I could understand that each time he believed he could make it happen and even if accommodations and travel weren't as promised that attendees would still enjoy booze + bands + beach.

Think the restaurant owner that lost 50K paying off her employees has a go fund me with 150,000 in it now.[Edited on January 22, 2019 at 9:06 AM. Reason : C]

Saw the Netflix Doc, it was pretty good. Can't wait to hear what stupid shit this guy does when he gets out of jail. You know he's going right back to hustling even if he can't be the CEO or director of a company.
1/22/2019 10:06:26 AM
Watched both the Hulu and Netflix documentaries. I like that you can watch both and not feel like you saw the same thing twice. Glad the caterer from Exuma got her GoFundMe fully funded. That's who I feel for the most. The locals got totally taken for a ride.
1/22/2019 10:17:23 AM
i read somewhere the nextflix doc was done by the same company in charge of the initial festival PR
1/22/2019 10:28:23 AM
a bunch of the people being interviewed are actually producers for the doc, they should have disclosed that
1/22/2019 10:29:10 AM
Yeah and Hulu paid McFarland to be in their documentary, which IMO is way worse.]
1/22/2019 10:56:32 AM
they should have sent him a screenshot of a wire transfer with the account info blacked out instead of actually paying
1/22/2019 11:03:21 AM
genuinely surprised that Seth is not a TWWer
1/22/2019 11:53:28 AM
I'm not sure how $5MM was warranted. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/fyre-festival-attendees-win-5-million-lawsuit-695806/sounds like it was mostly the anguish. I imagine they'll never get any of it but will be able to garnish wages of McFarlane whenever he is out? I'm not sure how that works.
