When I first heard about this movie I was pretty skeptical, thinking why the hell do we need another King Kong movie? But as more trailers have come out, and I've heard some interviews with the director, I'm getting more interested. Apparently it is very funny, very weird, and very much a kaiju fight movie where Kong is absolutely the undisputed star, not just a background character with little screen time as Godzilla was in the last new Godzilla...and for those that don't know, this King movie is supposed to lead to a Kong Vs that new Godzilla movie.

And I guess this is stand alone and has nothing to do with the other Kong movie, as the timeline would make zero sense.

No, it has nothing to do with Peter Jackson's King Kong from a few years ago (or any other one). He is larger than ever before because they wanted him to come off as a living God, not just an oversized ape (and because he will be going up against the enormous new Godzilla)

The first couple trailers definitely didn't sell me on it, but I thought the final trailer (https://youtu.be/44LdLqgOpjo) was pretty damn good. Regardless the reviews are pretty overwhelmingly positive, so I hope to check it out soon.

I thought the trailers for this looked awful. Reviews got me back interested in seeing it. Solid movie though - didn't waste any time getting to the island unlike the Jackson movie in 2005. Did a good job of setting up the movies to come.

Did anyone else notice that the skull crawlers only had 2 legs, not a front and back set? I didn't notice til the final fight with the big one, but for some reason once I noticed it it seemed really weird to me

So my suspension of believe was almost too much for this movie when they mentioned that the island was surrounded by a perpetual storm system.

You mean to tell me that even in 1973, meteorologists weren't all over this Earth-bound perpetual storm system? As in the only other planet that we know to have had one in 73 was Jupiter?
