Really should just go to a single bye for the top seed, wed-sat games. Or play 3-4 first round games Tuesday (maybe the 2,3,4 seeds) and the rest on Wednesday.

I just really hate the double bye configuration.

agreed

first seed gets a bye to day 3, 2/15, 4/13, 3/14 play day 1, 8/9, 7/10, and 6/11, and 5/12 play day 2. Gives most benefit to 1 seed, but still some benefit to 2-4.

Or say fuck it and run all 7 day 1 games back to back starting at 8AM

I'd invite the top 10 teams and have 7-10 and 8-9 play in the "first round".

look at yesterday, syracuse (a ny team) was at 12:00, duke (a nj team) was at 2:00, why not play those in the evening?

today you have unc-maimi at 12 and duke-louisville at 2, if you had reversed the order these would also be in prime time

^ It's designed this way so higher seeds get more rest in the tournament. For example, if UNC makes it to the championship game, they'll have the most time between games, as opposed to FSU or Notre Dame.

Also some scouting time for the coaches that do advance. Pretty archaic nowdays, but is still common.

Duke's resume is stronger than UNCs and they won 2/3 head to head. No way the committee can put UNC on the 1 line and leave Duke off it.
