The Mets have never made the playoffs three years in a row, but if this can finally be the year their pitchers all stay healthy, this is going to be one hell of a season. This team was good enough for the top wild card and that was with a ridiculous slew of injuries and using no-name starting pitchers down the stretch. Most of last year's team is still intact, no everyday player or top starter has left or new ones added. If he's healthy, he'll play, but there's no knowing what that does for Reyes or Duda. I'd be interested to see a 3-man rotation for 2 positions, plus Reyes can fill in at SS when Cabrera needs a break so all 3 of them would be in a game from time to time.

Reyes is far better than Wright at this point. David can spot at 1B and pinch hit/DH (interleague) at most.Coming into the season it's the best rotation in Mets history at worst but so many injury questions. Rosario will be up at some point when Asdrubal gets hurt and probably won't ever go down again. Absolute stud.I think we can win the east and compete with the Cubs and beat them if healthy but health is a big ask.[Edited on February 26, 2017 at 5:44 PM. Reason : Also think Yo plays LF and Bruce plays RF more than any other. CF? Grandy plus?]

Mets will be good IF the pitching stays healthy, but the Nats are still the team to beat in the East especially if Harper bounces back.Where does Tebow fit in the lineup
2/27/2017 10:27:17 AM
The Nats won the division without Harper at his best, but didn't when he had an MVP season. I'm not so sure he has as big of an impact on the division as the Mets' pitching staff does.

Wright probably won't be able to play for at least the first few weeks of the season. In other news, Conforto is 5-for-7 with two homers so far in spring training games. 1.571 slugging. In less meaningful other news, Tebow is killing it at batting practice.[Edited on April 4, 2017 at 10:02 AM. holy shit that's pretty amazing

Tim Tebow in the lineup today.
3/8/2017 12:38:26 PM
that's a great publicity stunt. kind of like when garth brooks played for them.]
3/8/2017 2:00:04 PM
Garth did that for multiple teams including the Padres. The Mets have probably made more money off Tebow shit in the past 6 months to pay for his contract a few times over.
3/8/2017 5:14:28 PM
I don't know how much the team makes on spring training tickets, but he's drawing a good number of UF alum.
3/8/2017 5:30:55 PM
Cespedes' line this spring: .378/.442/.733I'm hoping that carries over, if it does it could be his best season yet.
3/27/2017 5:27:17 PM
Familia 15-game suspension, and Matz will likely miss at least his first turn in the rotation. I'm praying it's not longer.

Mets suck

Mets added to what was already the best opening day record in all of MLB, despite losing their first 9 opening day games.

I'm aslo scared tp make another Tebow post because it might break the thread again, but he hit a home run in his very first at-bat as a professional baseball player and not even he could believe it. He stopped at 2nd and the umpired had to tell him to keep going.

I picked him up in my fantasy league.

I don't believe for a second he'll get higher than Double-A this year.Great series to open the season! Starters go 1-0, 18.2 IP, 0.96 ERA, 17kThe Braves lineup is crap outside of Kemp and Freeman so it's hard to say what this means for the long run, but I'm feeling pretty good. Very happy to see Harvey up to form coming back from injury.Team ERA to start the season is 1.50 including the bullpen losing it last night.[Edited on April 6, 2017 at 9:51 PM. Reason : -]

I wonder how much the Mets paid there opposing pitcher to give Tebow something he could hit.
4/7/2017 6:44:43 AM
Syndergaard stole the Philly Phanatic's ATV. This is a fun team.
4/11/2017 7:34:09 PM
I'm calling bullshit on Cespedes being called out at home. If it takes over 2 minutes to make a decision during a challenged play, shouldn't that mean the evidence is inconclusive and the play stands as called?I'm certain he was in fact out after seeing it replayed from every angle and close up. My argument is that the challenge should have been turned down because of how hard it was to tell.[Edited on April 13, 2017 at 9:50 PM. Reason : -]

There's not a solid rule, but the replay crew is encouraged to take 60-90 seconds to make a decision.

It was pretty obvious Salas didn't have it tonight, after he walked a runner on straight pitches there was no reason not to send in Blevins to face Yelich. This loss is on Collins and Warthen, whichever decided to stay with Salas after pitching him 7 out of the 11 previously played games.Damn shame to ruin such a great night for deGrom.[Edited on April 15, 2017 at 9:51 PM. He needs to grow up. He's 28 with a career 31-30 record. If he wants that big contract he better start pitching like it.
5/9/2017 4:13:55 PM
ehh, we all know w-l for a pitcher is hardly the most telling statistic. i agree that harvey hasn't pitched like an ace since 2015, but he obviously dealt with that shoulder injury and only pitched ~ half a season last year.

Mets have scored 5 or more runs in 11 of the last 12 games, and still won in the only game they didn't (yesterday's walk-off).The Mets' win-loss waves have looked like this:7-3 (capped by Mets winning in the 16th against the Marlins)1-10 (including getting swept by Washington and Atlanta)8-3 (4 straight series wins, without Syndergaard, Cespedes, Duda, and a bit of Cabrera)[Edited on May 9, 2017 at 9:39 PM. I don't understand why Familia came in with a 5-run lead last night. They needed him to close out a 1-run lead today and he had nothing in the tank. Gave up 4 runs.I hate this "X inning belongs to Y pitcher" mentality. I know Terry isn't the only manager who uses his bullpen that way, but he gets screwed the most for it. That's what happens when your starters can barely get into the 6th inning each day.
5/10/2017 4:25:36 PM
Mets rushed in to hiring a pitching coach as the new manager and then days later Joe Girardi becomes available. Typical.
