while it's cool a big manufacturer would build such a thing, it looks like you're paying an upcharge from the hellcat for marketing, a badge, and less stuff. 200lbs lighter on a 4500lbs car doesn't mean much.

wears 315 width tires all around... looks insane! don't know any other car that has such wide tires all around.http://www.motor1.com/news/134468/dodge-challenger-demon-wide-body/check out the spy shots here to see how crazy those 315s look at the fronthttp://www.motor1.com/news/133388/dodge-challenger-demon-unveiled/

I'll serve smoothcrim some crow if....(e-speculation)...it comes with awd ....it comes with a bigger supercharger ....it comes with higher boostif so... a 4% lighter hellcat with awd, fattie-boom-battie tires, MORE power ....well worth the 'upcharge'[Edited on February 1, 2017 at 3:28 PM. well if it has all those things, then yeah, rock on, I don't know how it could do worse than 9s. sounds like a hellcat srt8 jeep in car form. im doubting there are many folks that'd drop the 70+k such a car would cost though. it'd have to be a VERY low volume car.

Only 20lbs for the spare wheel and tire?
2/3/2017 9:51:08 AM
^do you even know how much a compact spare weighs? I thought this was the garageLatest info indicates it's not awd - http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2017/02/customize-your-dodge-demon-with-your-personalized-demon-crate/
2/3/2017 10:48:29 AM
If the Demon is meant to specialize in drag racing then deleting the spare from the factory seems kinda dumb to me. When you get to the strip you're just going to take out the tire yourself anyway.
2/3/2017 12:03:16 PM
Plenty of cars not coming with spares now. Test drove a new Acura a few months back. You get a can of tire slime and a 12v compressor with it.
2/3/2017 3:01:58 PM
I don't think bmw has come with a spare since e90
2/3/2017 3:44:29 PM
^^^^ the temporary tire itself for a full size car is going to weigh 15-20 lbs, plus the wheel. 18x5 skinnies still weigh 15-18lbs, so they must be going from having a spare (30-40lbs) to a pump and some slime.

CTS-V has an aluminum spare (apparently people like to use them as front runners) - not sure what that assembly would weigh but I would assume that could be possible.

i'm surprised to see any car without a spare. it's absolutely absurd, imo.
2/6/2017 6:42:13 PM
^it's actually pretty commonplace. I've also seen spares as options on the build-pages.
2/6/2017 8:56:09 PM
i realize it is common. i just think it's fucking stupid.but i guess at least half the drivers out there wouldn't know what to do with a spare anyway, so between that and trying to meet federal mpg numbers, i guess i see the reasoning.[Edited on February 6, 2017 at 9:07 PM. Reason : fds]

Most people will never need a spare, 90% of the people who do will just call AAA
2/6/2017 9:53:19 PM
I've needed one at least 4 times in my 13 years of driving. It's important to me to have one.

i would prefer all my vehicles to have a full size spare. flat tire on a sunday a few hundred miles from home? you're fucked.
2/7/2017 6:17:48 PM
Tell me about it. My car doesn't exactly have common sized tires either.
2/8/2017 8:24:54 AM
Eh, I've needed/used spares also but most modern cars can leave you stranded with a million different failures, a flat tire is just one of them. I'm honestly surprised they come with a fix a flat. Do cars even come with decent tools, fuses, etc. anymore? Why should they, there's too much to break, and need a computer to start diagnosing, why only cover your bases for a flat tire?
