I have 3 kids, which means we have A LOT of toys and kids stuff in our house. I typically sell anything of value on craigslist once they outgrow it, but my wife and I would like to donate some of their stuff to a family in need so that a child who might not otherwise can get some nice stuff from Santa. I'm talking about their nice stuff they've outgrown, like a working power wheels, video games, and things I could typically sell. We've found plenty of organizations where you can buy new toys for kids in need for Christmas, but I'm curious if anybody know a way to donate slightly used things to these kids for Christmas. Again, I'm not talking about shitty stuff like teddy bears, I'm talking about nicer things that a child would love to have even if it is used. I wish we knew a family I could give this directly to, but unfortunately we don't know of any such family. We live in the Charlotte area, so something local would be great. Anybody have any ideas?

You could call a local church and ask if they would be willing to distribute it to families in need.

You could get in touch with a social worker or counselor for a nearby school as they generally work pretty closely with local families in need.

There is a guy in my office who is taking money for a family that his church has "adopted" for the holiday season. He was asking us for money, but I can see if they'll take in actual items as well. This lady is by herself with 6 kids, and the kids run through just about all age groups. PM me if you want me to find out if they'll take some stuff for the family.
