I was at the game and I think the real turning point was when they played a loud rocking rap song by seven nation army with about 4 minutes to go. I will say that Johnson is by far our best defender. Dennis Smith is pretty good at getting steals and deflections as a help defender but he is not as consistent as Johnson is on the ball. Our bigs don't even try post moves and when they were doubled they could never hit the open man.

^^^ I think that's going to be our biggest Achilles heel this year. The bigs particularly Abu and Anya have low basketball IQ and play poor defense. Their only sense of defense is blocks which either ends up being a foul 50% of the time and they don't box out to get rebounds which leads to many offensive rebounds even for undersized teams.
We have lots of talent, but its mostly young talent. I think Yurt will make a huge difference for this team because he's a skilled post player which we haven't had in ages. I think him and DSJ will be a formidable combo. I also think we should switch to playing zone. Teams tend to light us up from three's so we might as well guard against easy shots.

We had a good run with guys that coud post up with McCauly, Smith, Hickson, and Howell. Seems to have dried up
Now, but to be fair I don't see many in college.
