Boone out first halfND opened -2.5 i think
10/2/2016 10:09:42 PM
Thread maker, you left off ND's ranking in OP.

At least we'll get to see highlights from the Gator Bowl victory so that we can all remember what it was like to once be relevant.
10/2/2016 11:12:29 PM
ND is awful... if Duke can beat them on the road, then State at the CarterFin should win by 14[Edited on October 2, 2016 at 11:27 PM. Reason : d]
10/2/2016 11:26:02 PM
they've played awful but have an overwhelming amount of talent which is what worries me
10/2/2016 11:36:32 PM
could easily be a shootout. two good offensens, no defense.
10/3/2016 7:09:32 AM
i wonder if Nyheim Hines is still banged up. he sat vs ODU then had last week off with the bye. and other than returning kicks, he was nonexistent offensively. and i don't recall us really targeting him either.
10/3/2016 7:53:40 AM
Yeah Hines is still not 100% from his ankle injury. ND has a ton of talent, just wonder how long until it "clicks" for their D after the coaching change. I mean Syracuse had a big first half against them but disappeared in the 2nd half, so maybe they're already improving? I mean if we can't outscore ECU with a pretty good offense, I just don't see how we're going to outscore ND with a really good offense.

I think we are set for a special rest of the season. Back in early September, we looked like a different team. ecu game was an embarassing gaffe against a subpar midmajor opponent- Coach's made bonehead decisions, we missed some Field goals, and it was 2nd game of year- a lot of stuff was still being ironed out.But team's evolve- just like how Michigan lost to App that one year, and then went on to crush Matt Stafford and really good Georgia team in their bowl game. We can do the same. Teams evolve a good bit game to game through the schedule, especially since there is no preseason to work stuff out. Its been a month since the start of season. Our offense looks a lot more polished imo now than it did at beginning of September. Of course the defense still gives up the big play, which could be our downfall. But we are undefeated in ACC, and UL and FSU already have conference losses (FSU has 2!). The path to the ACC championship game begins this weekend.Let's go seize our destiny. Let's shock da werld.[Edited on October 3, 2016 at 9:30 AM. Reason : .]

This game has no bearing on the ACC standings. Yeah if we win, maybe we carry some momentum into our hell stretch, but otherwise this is just an OOC game.ND's offense is going to exploit the hell out of our secondary. Hope we dial up some effective blitz packages as there is no way we can cover their guys without forcing Kizer to rush passes. Amazing that we will play Kizer, Jackson, and Watson back to back to back. Three top 10 qbs in the NCAA.Offensively we have to be able to run the ball and control the clock in order to let the defense catch their breath. ND's defense is garbage so we have to score and score a lot.
10/3/2016 10:27:21 AM
Our secondary is about to get embarrassed the next 3 weeks as we face 3 future NFL players at QB.
10/3/2016 10:47:00 AM
You don't know Jack!

10/3/2016 11:04:13 AM
we gon win
10/3/2016 11:49:48 AM
I hate to bring this up, but theres a damn hurricane out there and its projected to hit NC Saturday.
10/3/2016 11:56:08 AM
bring the game into PNC with Arena Football rules
10/3/2016 11:58:49 AM
yeah i'm hoping the game gets pushed back to the end of the season so we dont have to waste bodies and fatigue on a meaningless, but difficult game right before our two hardest games.
10/3/2016 12:04:05 PM
it wouldn't get pushed back, it would get cancelled.but all it's going to do in raleigh is rain saturday. so it's a moot point.]
10/3/2016 12:13:28 PM
They may move it to Friday if need be. They've done that before.
10/3/2016 12:41:39 PM
With the ND game looming, it has got me thinking about athletic programs and their importance to the University. Do we really need a good football team?I've lived all over the country in my time. From Oregon to Florida. I also own a veritable menagerie of domestic animals, (2 dogs, a Savannah cat, milk goat, 3 chickens). I go to the vet A LOT. Whenever I move and go to a new vet in a new state, that vet of course asks where I'm from.I say Raleigh, went to NC State blah blah blah. and I shit you not, every single one of these fucking vets says the same thing. "Oh yea NC State, Really top tier vet school yall have there. I go to a conference there one every two years. Great institution". You don't need championship football teams, or "amazing campus life" to get recognition. You just need top tier education programs. And they will come.

Lived in Raleigh 5 years homie, worked at State, went to State (PhD, didnt finish because I got an offer to come down to ATL), even taught at State and cheered for State (and I HATED UNC before I ever moved to NC, so State was a good fit), its not like I picked some random message board. And I wouldnt say I have bragged about us "being back" as my standard of "back" is based on when I was in undergrad at UT, three years of Peyton and then a NC under Tee Martin, but we are definitely better than we have been in the last decade. As for saying they are better than State, I dont need to do that. Only comes up when one of the many idiots on here that just troll constantly claims they arent. And I am on other boards, and have plenty of conversations about UT with friends (in-person, phone, social media, etc). With this post being an anomaly, I probably average 1-2 min a day on here, mostly when taking a shit somewhere and I pull my phone out.

noon kickoff? fuck you, espn.

10/3/2016 2:15:56 PM
its guaranteed to be raining at kickoff, tickets are going to be cheap on stubhub im sure...if they even have the game Saturday with the Hurricane. I'm thinking they'll barely sneak it in, but it's going to be wet and windy, nasty.
10/3/2016 3:01:08 PM
10/3/2016 3:08:01 PM
Still early with the weather but it looks like some of the projections indicate it'd arrive later Saturday. So still probably windy and rainy during the game but the worst of it coming after the game.
10/3/2016 3:11:54 PM
yea forecast is looking no bueno, but the early kickoff might save us from the worst of it.
10/3/2016 3:16:15 PM
A nasty weather game would play in our favor by limiting their passing attack. Would hate watching another 2015 UL-State slop fest, but just win baby.

That has been one of my biggest problems with DD. We always seems to lose the 2nd half. Think of all the games where we have played a good team well for the 1st half and then we get curb stomped in the 2nd half. The polar opposite of TOB who always sucked in the 1st half. We've also had games where we just got smashed from the start though too (UNC last year, FSU a couple years back with Jameis).
10/3/2016 5:07:41 PM
winning the first half points more towards good preparation and winning the 2nd half points more towards good players especially when you are referring to the FSU and Clemson games.[Edited on October 3, 2016 at 5:15 PM. Reason : with equal quality coaching, fsu and clemson should beat the shit out of us start to finish. ]
10/3/2016 5:14:32 PM
i do agree with e man that jumping out to a fast start vs a superior opponent and then fading is probably gonna happen a lot when the other team has far better talent. talent is gonna even things out sooner or later. but the inconsistent offense has certainly been a mark of DD's since his arrival. jump out to a quick lead, stagnate on offense for a quarter, turn it back on in the 4th...happens a lot no matter the opponent.
10/3/2016 6:15:26 PM
how likely are we this gets moved up to Friday? Empty stadium matchhas a game ever been played during a category 2 hurricane?
10/3/2016 7:50:53 PM
on the other hand, we might need this game for bowl eligibility.
10/3/2016 7:58:35 PM
i think the stuff about it getting moved up is pretty premature. might not even really make direct landfall in NC and the timing of it still is being predicted as saturday night in our area, i believe.idk what the exact conditions are of what we've played in...but we've definitely played in some bad storms before. [Edited on October 3, 2016 at 8:08 PM. Reason : spelling]
10/3/2016 8:06:48 PM
I was at the tropical storm games, oh boy!
10/3/2016 8:15:17 PM
Projection this am is bad. University needs to make an announcement
10/4/2016 7:30:48 AM
Fire DD if we cancel this game.
10/4/2016 7:59:13 AM
I was at the South Carolina game. What a shit fest of a game, but it was damn fun as a drunk student getting soaked in the stands.
10/4/2016 8:00:22 AM
^ it was a load of fun, worst football ive ever seen tho.
10/4/2016 8:02:40 AM
Just move the game to Friday and open up the gates.
10/4/2016 8:03:18 AM
I would hope they'll talk about contingency plans today, and make a decision no later than tomorrow?
10/4/2016 8:21:26 AM
Make us play in a storm. Help our secondary as much as we can. Wind and rain slowing down their passing attack will help much more than a big crowd.
10/4/2016 8:25:14 AM
10/4/2016 8:48:37 AM
The wind won't be all that strong in Raleigh at Noon on Sat. A few breezes and some rain, but nothing that should cancel the game.
