either snacking or full on bowl of cereal?it came up this morning with a coworker, i thought it was funny he was eating a bowl of cereal and he thought it was strange that i haven't had a bowl of cereal probably since high school. (he doesn't have kids, i can imagine that some people may eat cereal again if their kids are)

week or two ago
9/19/2016 8:12:15 AM
Probably a couple of years. Too much sugar, and too many carbs
9/19/2016 8:13:13 AM
Last week
9/19/2016 8:25:17 AM
I usually eat a bowl of Quaker Granola on the weekends. Too often I skip lunch so I find that'll tide me over until dinner.
9/19/2016 8:31:36 AM
Saturday morning. a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats.

Yesterday
9/19/2016 9:00:12 AM
This morning. I have cereal for breakfast every work day. Although it isn't sugary cereal, it is boring adult whole grain wheat shit. Doesn't taste amazing but it is healthy and fast.
9/19/2016 9:16:32 AM
I'm with EMCE usually, but the other week the wife was out of town and Quaker Granola + unsweetened almond milk was easier than fixing dinner a few nights.^I usually make refrigerator oatmeal overnight, so I can just grab and go in the morning. It's great and you can control the amount of sugar. [Edited on September 19, 2016 at 9:28 AM. Reason : yay 19000]
9/19/2016 9:27:18 AM
a few days ago...maybe Saturday.i go through phases where i'll eat it quite regularly and crave it - and then won't buy any or want any for a few months.
9/19/2016 9:32:41 AM
right now. frosted flakes
9/19/2016 9:43:27 AM
Froot Loops are part of a balanced diet. You've got your serving of fruit, protein (from the toucan) and milk.
9/19/2016 9:57:08 AM
Probably twice a week. I don't think I ate cereal for a couple years, but visited the in-laws a few years back and had a tasty/healthy bowl and got back into it. I try and eat light/healthy for breakfast...and the right kind of cereal can accomplish that for you.
9/19/2016 11:22:52 AM
is this market research to open a place that serves cereal and a variety of milks?
9/19/2016 11:27:40 AM
^lol. not sure how he thought that was going to work. I miss Melvin's though. I can't remember the last time I ate cereal. Middle school or maybe a couple of times in high school?
9/19/2016 11:35:37 AM
^^hahahaha I totally forgot about that place!^I, too, miss Melvin's. I actually have a tshirt from there lying around somewhere.
9/19/2016 11:51:19 AM
this is fascinating to medo you guys also watch cartoons in the morning?
9/19/2016 11:59:38 AM
Yes. Because clearly the demographic for Great Grains date and walnut cereal is 7 yr olds.
9/19/2016 12:19:41 PM
My office has honey bunches of oats, Special K and various oatmeals which I'll grab one of. Either that or an egg sandwich from a corner store. what does everyone eat normally?
9/19/2016 12:25:06 PM
coffee, piece of some kind of bread, and maybe a banana or some apple or somethingon weekends maybe eggs, if i'm feeling fancy i'll make an egg sandwich[Edited on September 19, 2016 at 12:29 PM. Reason : .]
9/19/2016 12:28:24 PM
I would get tired of eating the same shit for breakfast everyday...just as I would get tired of eating the same shit for lunch or dinner. So I rotate. Here are a list of items that are in my breakfast rotation:- Apples- Bananas- Toast- English Muffins- Cereal (usually a combo of Grape Nuts w/ Honey Bunches of Oats or Special K...every now and then, HN Cheerios)- Granola and Yogurt- Balance Bar- Hard Boiled Eggs- MuffinsI don't see how the cereal thing is "fascinating".
9/19/2016 12:32:26 PM
because i seriously had no idea that adults without children ate cereal
9/19/2016 12:33:29 PM
There are tons of cold cereals marketed to adults. That's the facts.
9/19/2016 12:36:24 PM
That's like cracking on someone for eating a real sandwich by attributing all sandwiches to PB&J's that kids eat. There are kids cereals and adult cereals.I would have kicked you in the nuts if you tried to make me eat Grape Nuts when I was 8 years old. And you won't see me eating Lucky Charms as a 33-year old either.
9/19/2016 12:37:13 PM
I loved grape nuts as a child. Also why you ragging on PB&J?
9/19/2016 12:39:49 PM
^^^right, but i thought that was mostly for people with kids. my parents never ate cereal, i don't know how my wife's family was growing up but she doesn't eat cereal. i've never seen any of my extended family eat cereal except for nieces/nephews. i don't remember adults eating cereal in movies/tv (but maybe i just didn't notice). I just didn't know it was a thing. i thought even cereal for kids was on the decline with everyone knowing more about healthy eating today (cutting out sugar and milk)[Edited on September 19, 2016 at 12:43 PM. Reason : ^^^]
9/19/2016 12:42:46 PM
I'm not..making an analogy.I ate Grape Nuts as a kid because that's all my grandmother had (that and Cracklin Oat Bran...which turned to mush if it was just sitting next to a gallon of Milk). I also put about a half a cup of sugar on my Grape Nuts as a kid. Even today I have to put it with a cereal that actually has flavor. Grape Nuts is actually wood colored rock pebbles that have been softened enough to where they can be eaten.
9/19/2016 12:44:10 PM
I like grape nuts because they get stuck in your teeth.[Edited on September 19, 2016 at 12:48 PM. Reason : ^^your family is weird and milk is healthy]
9/19/2016 12:47:56 PM
milk is definitely not healthy, and we've known that for awhile
9/19/2016 12:57:11 PM
where the fuck did dtownral grow up? Was his childhood based on Silver Spoons? Most of t-dub didn't have nannies and personal chefs. My mom would make some cheese or cinnamon toast every now and then...and of course pancakes, cinnamon rolls, and other "extravagant" stuff on the weekend. But cereal is cheap, quick, and easy. That's why 95% of kids grew up eating that shit.
9/19/2016 12:59:06 PM
i had cereal as a kid, but parents had coffee and some toast or eggs or something
9/19/2016 1:01:54 PM
9/19/2016 1:05:44 PM
I eat oatmeal basically every morning at work as my breakfast.
9/19/2016 1:15:33 PM
My usual morning isinstant oatmeal + chia seeds + mixed nuts and coffeerefrigerator oatmeal (oats + almond milk + +greek yogurt + chia seeds + *.berries + maple syrup/honey) and coffeeegg muffins (eggs + arugula/spinach + caramelized onion + sausage/bacon/ham) and coffeeI eat more adult cereals now if I have them, but I'm not mad at the occasional bowl of Lucky Charmz or Applejacks or one of the flavored Cheerios if it's around.
9/19/2016 1:22:40 PM
My wife, brother, and dad are huge into cereal. And they love themselves some frosted flakes, cinnamon toast crunch, and honey bunches of oats. They are not fatties either, as my dad/brother do marathons and triathlons.I stick to cheerios, rice krispies, or kix. Once every few months I will get a box of cocoa crispies. Now I eat cereal maybe once on the weekend but I used to keep it at work to eat every day.How do you guys feel about generic brand cereal? I don't mind Crispy Rice, Honey Oat Clusters, or Toasted Oats but my wife won't touch the generic brands.
9/19/2016 1:35:56 PM
my mommy drank coffee, if i drink coffee it means i'm a big boy now
9/19/2016 1:55:06 PM
If I eat cereal its with almond milk. I only put milk in coffee when it's my only option. Also is dntownral Asian?[Edited on September 19, 2016 at 2:25 PM. Reason : Vvvvv]
9/19/2016 2:15:49 PM
I had a bowl of honey bunches of oats last weekend as our friends we were with had some. Before that probably college. I typically do homemade granola + greek yogurt or like an egg scramble.--oh and I can't do milk. Bad for me. [Edited on September 19, 2016 at 2:26 PM. Reason : s]
9/19/2016 2:25:48 PM
i'm not asian, i ate all the regular cereal growing up. cinnamon toast and raisin bran were my favorites. i'm not sure when/why i stopped eating cereal, but if I had to guess i think it was probably from the shitty dorm fridges not being able to keep milk fresh more than a couple days.and while most cereal isn't good for you (and neither is milk), that's not why i don't eat it as an adult. I don't eat it now because it is so much quicker and easier to grab some fruit or a piece of bread or something and not have to sit down and eat and then have a dish to clean. basically i'm too lazy for that shit. i'm just surprised that i'm in the minority, if anything i would have thought that most adults don't eat cereal [Edited on September 19, 2016 at 2:31 PM. Reason : .]
9/19/2016 2:29:01 PM
I rarely see cereal any more. Then again I rarely buy anything with a list of ingredients over 1 or 2.
9/19/2016 2:40:51 PM
^^I think you're right that most don't eat it everyday/regularly, but I don't know that too many eschew cereal
9/19/2016 2:44:09 PM
Man I used to DOWN cinnamon toast crunch with whole milk.
9/19/2016 2:49:26 PM
i was surprised that there wasn't more information online; from what i can tell most adults don't eat cereal, but it is still the most popular single group of breakfast foods
9/19/2016 2:49:44 PM
Actually wtf am I thinking. It's breakfast burritos here. We even have a guy that sells them every day in the office.
9/19/2016 3:04:47 PM
I eat cereal almost every day for breakfast. Always have (with the exception of when I lived in the dorms and went to the dining hall to pig out on eggs). I can probably count on my hands the number of times in a year when I have something else. First thing I do when I wake up is go down stairs and fix a bowl of cereal and browse the internet while eating. The majority of the time it is a more "adult" type cereal but I do have kids and will eat some of theirs sometimes.
9/19/2016 3:13:10 PM
probably several years ago..just not really my thing. I like meat in my breakfast.
9/19/2016 3:17:54 PM
I rarely eat breakfast. If I do, usually oatmeal with a banana. But I keep a box of Apple Jacks in the house, and will occasionally eat a handful dry as a snack or dessert. It's probably not the healthiest thing, but with normal bloodwork and steadily declining weight I don't really care.
9/19/2016 3:24:02 PM
my grandma used to always eat cereal. i never thought of it as a kids-specific thing other than the obvious fruity peebles type of cereals.
9/19/2016 3:26:26 PM
I used to eat Raisin Bran until I found out it had more sugar than shit like Frosted Flakes. Rather than eat something else instead I just stopped eating cereal altogether
