i responded to the article and tried to look the author up to gauge their age... spot on, there were a few Bernie images in their FB photo album

^^^Its just some liberal person that thinks the current state of the USA is akin to Nazi germany and that the ROTC is the Hitler Youth. We are exploiting and brainwashing our young minds to go across the world and kill brown people for oil. I mean... there might be one fraction of a tiny point to make here if there weren't a thing called student loans. But admitting that student loans are available to basically anyone with a pulse would make the entire argument moot. So either they were omitted from the column as an option for these poor/minority students, or the author just assumes that these underpriviliged young adults are just too ignorant to discover any other option besides the ROTC to pay for college.

I was in Army ROTC for a couple of years during which I spectacularly failed. I never met anybody who was in that program because it was their only way to pay for college. And every single "poor and minority student" in that program would agree that this condescending idiot doesn't know what she's talking about.

i'm super liberal, think our military should be massively cut, but i want good qualified officers in the military that i do want us to maintain and rotc is the best way to do that

i think that the military does absolutely pray on poor people or people with limited options but that's more of a thing with recruiters
