New Trek series on CBS.God it looks so....ugly

I like how they reused a roulette wheel from CSI and turned it into the ship. ]

the phase 2 enterprise
7/23/2016 8:47:37 PM
The drive section looks inspired from a Klingon D7 Battle Cruiser.
7/24/2016 7:20:36 AM
^ I was going to say the same thing, this looks like when they used to combine model kits to create new classes for the shows
7/24/2016 10:41:19 AM
when is this supposed to be set in the Trek timeline?
7/24/2016 5:15:50 PM
They haven't announced, but based on everything we know, pre TOS
7/24/2016 6:13:20 PM
so Scott Bakula is the captain?
7/24/2016 8:39:06 PM
I actually really like the design.[Edited on July 25, 2016 at 9:07 AM. Reason : .]

isn't this going to be on CBS online exclusively?Thought I read somewhere that they were using it as an enticement to get people to pay for the CBS app.
7/25/2016 9:29:57 AM
yeah CBS All Access or whatever
7/25/2016 10:19:33 AM
CBS all access in the US/Canada. Netflix all other places.
7/25/2016 10:27:03 AM
Time to install a VPN to trick Netflix again. Fuck cbs.
7/25/2016 4:52:23 PM
wow yet another service to subscribe to!?!?! can we not all just settle on one?

somethin' ain't right.
5/17/2017 10:52:40 PM
I don't understand why we can't progress beyond the TNG/DS9/Voyager timeframe. Between the movies, Enterprise, and now this it's just too much re-hashing for me.
5/18/2017 7:15:55 AM
ill still watch, even though it looks eh
5/18/2017 8:11:15 AM
^^ Rehashing old canon is easier than coming up with new canon. I mean, we already have Sarek and young Spock in the show
5/18/2017 11:20:59 AM
I hope they revisit the racist African planet
5/18/2017 11:44:21 AM
bttt I guess. First episode airs the 24th (tomorrow at 830 pm) on CBS. It'll end in a cliff hanger with the 2nd episode online via CBS All Access (paid service) I still have strong reservations about this show (main character being Spock's adopted sisted, redesign of klingons, yet another prequel etc), but we'll see how it goes.
9/23/2017 11:36:10 PM
it's CBS dogCBS
9/23/2017 11:48:09 PM
I don't care how good it is. If the only way to watch the second episode (or future episodes) is through a paid CBS streaming service, the show is doomed to fail.

LOL I'm not gonna pay to watch this
9/24/2017 9:54:43 AM
Redoing Klingons yet again.
9/24/2017 9:35:47 PM
I was really impressed with the visuals and thought it was good enough start. The whole history with Michael and the Vulcans and Klingons is kinda cliche, but let's see if they do something interesting with it down the line. Mutiny on the first episode is dumb, but eh.
9/24/2017 10:03:08 PM
Like it a lot so far. Watching he 2nd episode now...
9/24/2017 10:17:32 PM
I enjoyed the first episode, will watch the 2nd tomorrow. A couple thoughts:The intro was a bit odd, sending the captain and first officer down, the whole federation symbol thing, etc. Not a fan of the opening credits, the music is okay (better than Ent) by I want to see spaceship beauty shots! Not a fan of redoing Klingons again, this rendition seems a hell of a lot more religious that previous ones and just looks odd. Like if I hadn't known better, I wouldn't have guessed they were klingons. The species of the 2nd Officer (guy who Doug Jones plays) is silly. He's a prey species who senses death? And he's timid as hell and wants to run away constantly (even when defending Federation space), why is he in Starfleet?Having the main character be the adopted daughter of Sarek seems so shoehorned in to have some kind of connection to the original series. Also, why is her name Michael? I agree, the mutiny was dumb, especially on the first episode.Overall though, I think this series has some potential. The visuals were great, the acting seems good, but do we really want to see more Klingon/Federation drama?
9/24/2017 10:59:32 PM
Yeah why would you breed your livestock to have a sense of impending doom. Would make a lot more sense to get rid of that so that they just hang out until you decide to eat them.
9/24/2017 11:20:06 PM
^^I got a jar jar vibe from the science officer, hope they fix that. Re Michael name, it’s hundreds of years in the future, I can accept names have changed genders, this happens in the real world too. The new kilngons are weird but I think they’ve established a coherent vision for how the species works, I trust they have some reason for rebooting them that makes sense.
9/24/2017 11:32:49 PM
New Klingons are dumb, science officer is a bitch, I don't understand why the Michael chick made such a weak mutiny attempt.Orville is better
9/25/2017 8:37:31 AM
That's saying something, because Orville is terrible.
9/25/2017 10:25:45 AM
^^ because her dna unraveled like spaghetti noodles
9/25/2017 12:17:34 PM
I liked it. I wish the costumes had more solid colors in them, tho.
9/28/2017 1:55:08 PM
this is going to be good. different feel for a trek series. the first two episodes didn't even show the main ship right? just a prologue in a way. oh and michael...
9/28/2017 6:49:02 PM
Just watched first episode. LOVED IT. I love the feel of it.
9/30/2017 8:29:41 AM
Episode 3 is very trekky
10/1/2017 9:49:28 PM
Finished episode 1:-only 3 members of the Shenzhou crew apparently have anything approaching a personality, because those were the only ones they had talk-God damn it, the Klingons as they were in The Next Generation were perfect, why change their look again?-yeah, those actions at the end of the episode deserve more of a court martial than anything Captain Kirk ever did
10/1/2017 11:32:36 PM
^^Yes I loved it! I was thinking the same thing.
10/1/2017 11:51:25 PM
Apparently CBS is really upset that this show is getting pirated...a lot. Shocker.
10/2/2017 8:45:24 AM
if anyone hasn't started this, just skip the 2-episode premier and start with the 3rd episode. the "previously on" intro is all you need to know from the premier, and you don't have to watch all the dumb parts.
10/2/2017 9:26:14 AM
^^If I pay for Netflix and download a Netflix copy is that pirating?
10/2/2017 11:03:42 AM
^^ Agree with this. Really would've been better calling that a prologue instead of the start of the series proper. I could see they wanted to create empathy for Michael Burnham, but, they made her look like an idiot.
10/4/2017 11:16:39 PM
They went a little nuts with the shaky camera in this episode
10/8/2017 9:27:11 PM
I’m tired of this tardigrade story already...
10/8/2017 10:05:30 PM
i fast forward through all the klingon partsthe giant tardigrade travel on mushrooms shit is dumb
