Say, studies started showing links between the amount of pollution and violent crime. What would happen in this country?

by "links", do you mean simply a positive correlation or scientific proof of causation?

is this about the leaded gasoline/crime rate correlation?

It would depend on how strong the link was. Does pollution influence crime rates by 5% or 75%? You'd need good evidence well into 30+% range to get any movement out of our shitty government.
