Don't point out that it's actually frozen yogurt or inform me that you don't consider soft serve to be real ice cream. I will slap the cone from your hand and stomp on your foot, you shit-breath. It's a free ice cream. Just shut the fuck up and eat it.
4/18/2016 11:03:33 AM
I prefer frozen custard, preferably.
4/18/2016 11:06:55 AM
Who else on here enjoys brain freeze?
4/18/2016 11:12:06 AM
I am ten hundred percent surprised krallum2016 typed out "who else on here" instead of WEOH like some kind of depraved Redditite.
4/18/2016 11:15:14 AM
There's actually an acronym for that? And frozen custard melts too quickly, in my humble opinion. Or, IMHO.
4/18/2016 11:18:32 AM
You're not eating it fast enough then.
4/18/2016 11:26:21 AM
Wait, where's the free ice cream?I got frozen yogurt from Yogurt Mountain yesterday. At $0.55 an ounce, it gets pretty expensive
4/18/2016 11:32:34 AM
I only eat Howling Cow now, if I'm going to splurge on ice cream i'm going all in and getting the bestits annoying having to drive on campus though to pickup a pint
4/18/2016 12:02:04 PM
Ben and Jerry's > Hagen Daz >> Howling Cow[Edited on April 18, 2016 at 12:10 PM. Reason : Talenti's Gelato and Sorbets are pretty good too]
4/18/2016 12:09:35 PM

Jason's Deli, every day.[Edited on April 18, 2016 at 12:27 PM. Reason : With purchase of your lunch, obviously.]
4/18/2016 12:27:10 PM
Ben and Jerry's is overrated as fuck.I buy the big like 1-2 gallon bucket at the grocery store.[Edited on April 18, 2016 at 12:49 PM. Reason : that will last like 2 days, tops.]
4/18/2016 12:48:27 PM
I usually don't get the soft excuse for icecream when I eat at Jason's. In fact I'll serve myself a cone and not eat it at all, just leave it on the plate as a statement of disgust.
4/18/2016 1:09:45 PM
dat 190% dickey's soft serve
4/18/2016 1:35:36 PM
Gelato in Italy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> *Having said that, the other day I was grocery shopping and felt like getting ice cream. Saw the gelatos, but didn't know which to get, so didn't get one. Will get one next time, hence, my question:Have y'all tried any of the brands? My options are Talenti, Haagen Dazs, and Breyers. The first two are almost double the price of Breyers. Please post your brand/flavor opinions, thanks!

creamy ice
4/18/2016 5:27:11 PM
I wish they'd get Blue Bell back in stores
4/18/2016 6:49:55 PM
there was this one time, at jasons, where the soft serve was fairly hard and instead of making a swirl in the cone i just held cone steady and packed it vertical. got to be over a foot tall it did
4/18/2016 7:36:49 PM
contrary to this thread title - i actually do care about your ice cream opinions. please direct all ice cream opinions to me.

so other than howling cow, what is the best ice cream in raleigh (that's not from the grocery store)
4/18/2016 8:47:20 PM
I like how you have to add that exclusion, cause there are many offerings at the grocery store that are better than Howling Cow, but enjoy your overpriced local ice cream.
4/18/2016 11:17:47 PM
I got some free ice cream in Moore Square one time. I love the community vibe there.

Well here's one opinion -- no, one fact -- you'd do well to keep in mind:Durian ice cream is disgusting.I was coming out of a tunnel complex in the jungle, drenched in sweat -- over 100 degrees, 100% humidity, no breeze, dying for something cold. There was a lady with a little ice cream cart and we mobbed her, unwrapped our cones without looking, and bit into them. Durian flavored. We all threw our cones away after one bite. The taste was somewhere between what I imagine a dirty diaper would taste like on the one hand and anything from Arby's on the other. It was vile. And even though I only took one bite, the taste stayed with me for the rest of the day. Every time I burped the durian flavor came up through whatever else I'd eaten that day -- spicy pork, garlicked-out vegetables, fish sauce -- and filled my mouth with a choking green miasma of shit flavor.Durian, for those unfamiliar, is a fruit that is an Asian delicacy, even though it reeks so powerfully that it is banned on flights and most public transportation.I will allow that possibly, in its natural durian fruit form, it is an interesting and exciting new flavor. Anthony Bourdain says so, anyway. But it has no business being ice cream. That one bite of ice cream was the worst thing to happen to me in Vietnam.
4/19/2016 3:14:22 PM
^ what else is in the running for worst thing to happen to you in Vietnam?
4/19/2016 3:41:45 PM
Vietnam approached perfection in all but two things. One was the Durian ice cream. The other was the particular company I decided to do Ha Long Bay with. It was nothing but drunk 20 year olds from Australia and Europe acting like drunk 20 year olds, up to and including the Irish couple in the bunk across from ours fighting nonstop and then vomiting all over the room.If I were a few years younger, single, and the type of guy who was into fucking strangers, the Ha Long Bay thing would have been the high point of my life. As it is I'm a 31 year old in a stable happy relationship who really doesn't like drama or vomit.I'd still take vomit over durian ice cream any day of the week.

You really ought to write some of this shit down in story form. Almost everything you've posted from your travels, time in Africa, etc. has been superb. It's all funny, poignant, or both.
4/20/2016 12:53:31 AM
I like to have Oreos in mine B-)
4/20/2016 12:56:03 AM
this mug is acting like Arby's mid roast beef sandwich is worse than some African slop
4/20/2016 1:01:24 AM
Depends on the slop. There's one dish from Benin that I'll admit is worse than Arby's, but nobody would have understood the reference if I'd said "between a baby's diaper and akassa with crin-crin."
4/20/2016 2:08:50 AM
I just like how since Arby's is expensive, relatively fast food speaking, it gets labelled as shitty food. When it's easily better than something like Taco Bell, taste-wise.
4/20/2016 2:24:54 AM

4/20/2016 9:14:01 AM
what the fuck did you just say about taco bell, boy?
4/20/2016 9:23:02 AM
I never thought of it as expensive -- and the place I do think of as expensive, Chik-fil-a, I find delicious.I just think it tastes shitty. And over the years I've been pleased to find out that I am not alone in this. I've never heard a person express a desire to go to Arby's. I've heard many express disgust with it. Really the main benefit it provides humanity is a string of jokes on the Simpsons.
