http://gsa.raleighnc.gov/smb/ptlprdapp1/PTLPRD/BoardsCommissions/Documents/CityCouncil/Archive/WorkSessions/WorkSession20160209.pdfIt's in one of the slides from a Raleigh City Council Meeting in Feb, so I'm assuming 100% legit. Also, I've seen the construction crews in the blue area digging cable.

AT&T is laying fiber downtown for their GigaPower service, some areas should be live in the next month
4/4/2016 9:07:09 AM
That's it? Whomp.
4/4/2016 9:30:28 AM
To start with
4/4/2016 9:31:00 AM
OH SO CLOSE
4/4/2016 9:33:37 AM
>starting OTB
4/4/2016 10:29:05 AM
they dug and laid the conduit/lines at my house a few weeks back. things went better than expected.
4/4/2016 10:33:34 AM
http://triangle.fiberforu.ms/ has some crowd sourced maps as well as diagrams from raleigh permits for both google and ATT.
4/4/2016 11:56:08 AM
what is the darker shaded area (it looks like city limits but it is not actually the city limits)? Is that the final proposed service area?
4/4/2016 12:31:10 PM
I have ATT gigapower in downtown raleigh for going on a year now.
4/4/2016 1:25:07 PM
Someone laid fiber outside of my house in downtown about a month ago. I assume each provider doesn't need to lay their own fiber, so is this map just where Google foots the bill?
4/4/2016 1:49:40 PM
Fuck TWC. So god damn close.
4/4/2016 2:47:12 PM
I heard there were a bunch of dudes laying pipe at your mom's house.

Man when UVerse first came out it was actually good
4/4/2016 4:59:36 PM
^^$70/month
4/4/2016 9:57:54 PM
so everyone needs to lay their own fiber, that sucks. curious if that means ATT digging fiber into an area of Raleigh will make Google less likely to enter it since they'd have to lay the same amount of fiber as in an untapped area but won't be able to capture the entire market.
4/5/2016 9:57:03 AM
If AT&T already installed their Gigapower network in my neighborhood (which they did) then does that mean GoogleFiber won't come a knocking as well? Half the reason I haven't signed up for Gigapower yet is b/c I'm waiting to see what Google has in store for my area.
4/5/2016 2:16:54 PM
4/5/2016 3:19:11 PM
because fuck at&t
4/5/2016 7:11:36 PM
I think you have to pay significantly extra to opt out of Google collecting all of your web traffic.
4/6/2016 12:21:28 AM
^you have to pay around $15/month to opt out of AT&T collecting your usage data.
4/6/2016 1:08:10 PM
So my choice between ATT and TWC at my new house is gonna be shit vs shit... got it!
4/6/2016 1:43:25 PM
I love my uVerse service...way better than TWC. Can't speak for Direct TV though, or any satellite service, thankfully.Even if that wasn't the case, I'd happily pay the extra $15 for [any] fiber if it was ran in my neighborhood.[Edited on April 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Reason : When you have normal internet, fiber's fiber imo]
