Figured I'd give it it's own thread.

I think the key to winning isn't necessarily a bunch of epic cards, but just a balanced deck and knowing what you can use to counter what your opponent plays. I've been doing well up in Arena 5 with troops like Giant, Witch, Knight, Bomber, Minion Horde, Spear Goblins, ie all troops you can get early on. And then mix in a Freeze spell or something and you can do well with the base troops.

Fun game though.

You can just drop some skeletons or goblins beside him though, he's not that hard to counter usually.

I just started playing this weekend. I think you just want something that counters most stuff and wait on your opponent to dump his elixir then counter his stuff and drop something like a giant on the other side. Granted I am only in Arena 2 but that seems to work decently well.

I don't think the prince is OP. He's alright. It's the Pekkas and the damn Giant Skeletons that really make me cringe... Well, moreso the pekka than the giant skeleton.

I have a goblin deck that does pretty well with counters. I don't lose many games, but I rarely get three throphies too. I usually end up winning 1 to 0, and frequently in over time (that seems to be the point where people get really frustrated/desperate to make a move and get sloppy )

With that said, I have another deck that I can get 2 or 3 trophies pretty regularly, but I also lose 3/4 games I play... so there's that to consider.

It's all about anticipating your opponent's moves. You can count their elixer, and against most players, you'll be able to keep track of whats in their deck so you can identify their strategy and how best to set yourself up for an efficient counter.

Know when to push. Like if someone drops a barbarian hut when the game starts, I'm dumping my army on the other side for a quick tower kill. This is a game of attrition and you win when you manage your resources better than your opponent. This also means keeping your composure and knowing when to let one of your towers fall so you can push to get his king or another one of his towers. Don't be afraid to make the sacrifice sometimes.

Also, Giants are great for not only offense, but on defense duty too (luring away enemy units from your towers...)


My Arena 5 Deck consists of:
Level 6 Goblins
Level 6 Spear Goblins
Level 2 Goblin Barrel
Level 7 Tesla
Level 4 Giant
Level 4 Goblin Hut
Level 4 Fireball
Level 6 Arrows

Like TT10 said, you don't need epics to make it work. Just a good balance and some whit. I believe there is more value in leveling up cards than a random bunch of epics or rares, Cards should work together.

Yeah, my problem is that I used to drop a giant with a dragon, witch, Pekka, something behind it, but that pretty clearly let's the opponent know I'm out of elixir to counter a prince so he demos my tower before I can recover. I figured it out though. I'd probably say I win more than I lose, but it's usually 1-0

Yeah, elixir management is the name of the game. And some decks' effectiveness changes once you get to Double Elixir time.

If you have a deck with a bunch of 1, 2, 3, 4 elixir plays like goblins, archers, etc, you want to try and win early. If you have a deck with some 5,6,7,8 elixir cards, you kind of want to hang in there until Double Elixir time when you can use your troops faster.

I think every deck should have:

- at least 1 small elixir ground troop to distract Princes/Giant Skeleton/etc. Like the 1 elixir skeletons, or regular goblins, or even spear goblins. Even barbs fit this mold, though they cost 5 elixir.
- at least 2 troops that can attack air. Archers and spear goblins qualify for this, as does musketeer, minions, minion horde, baby dragon, etc. Don't want to have a dragon flying to your tower and your 4 cards available can't attack air
- at least 1 projectile weapon. Arrows, fireball, rocket, goblin barrel, etc. Even the poison spell kind of fits this bill. I prefer arrows myself just because they can take out a minion horde or the skeleton army that opponents will drop to swarm your prince/giant/large troop. But if it's about to go to overtime and you can finish off a tower with a fireball, it's pretty sweet. And while the rocket is slow and expensive, it's good for hitting multiple buildings if you're facing a spawner.

That's about it really. I don't think you have to have spawner huts or defensive structures, though some play styles prefer that. I don't think you have to have a spell(s) though Rage, Poison, Lightning and Freeze can all be very effective. Zap kinda sucks.

I do think you want to have one game changer type card. Doesn't have to be something super high elixir like an X-Bow or PEKKA or Giant skelly. But I like to play a card late in the game that the opponent hasn't seen all match.

Yeah. I seem to perform much better in double elixer mode where decisions and instincts are more spontaneous. You have to try to keep track of your opponents played cards and elixer management more carefully.

^^ Another good point... I try to count how many unique cards are played to anticipate that game changer card. Typically, it's been a Giant Skeleton, Balloon, or a Rocket.

Everything TT10 mentioned is solid info. Look at the TV and review the army comps that the top 50 use.

I'd say that Tesla towers, Barbarians, and Arrows are easily in the top 3 most used cards. the remaining 5 cards selected depend on play style and what you have available.

There's no one ultimate/power card. Everything has a counter or disadvantage. Some cards may be less useful and very situational in their effectiveness. I try to shy away from those cards because it really is bad to have a card you only play once in a match or not at all because it has no effectiveness.

Remember that leveling up cards makes a huge difference in deck effectiveness. Every level counts. I've got cards I'm not using yet, but leveling up to catch up with the other cards I do have leveled up. Until they catch up, they are sidelined.

Can't believe I've been playing this since Feb 23rd (over a month ago).

Moving on up! Just hit Arena 7 and it's hard. Right now, the level of my cards is holding me back from going at people harder.

My previous deck was pretty good for middle of Arena 6. But what carried me even farther is my current deck, which has 5 rares and 3 commons; you read that right, no epics.

Level 4 Mini P.E.K.K.A
Level 7 Barbarians
Level 7 Spear Goblins
Level 5 Musketeer
Level 5 Wizard
Level 7 Arrows
Level 5 Fireball

It's a great deck and pretty well balanced. I usually pick up on the opponent's rhythm after the first minute, so if I can hang on for that long I'm usually good to go and I'm able to formulate an effective strategy to counter and win.

What a great game though.

I like to use prince and goblin barrel combo. If they don't counter quick enough it will usually take out a tower.

Goblin barrel can do tons of damage but can also be quickly countered with arrows, bomber, nearby bomb tower, etc. And you can only really use it for offense, whereas something like fireball can hit a tower for ~200 damage depending on level (I think my level 6 does 208? Have hit towers with 218 and been left with 10 health). But you can use it to hit and severely injure barbs, witches, wizards, musketeers, etc.

My current deck on my main account is a little bit elixir heavy, but it's pretty versatile and has done me well. I usually hover in the 1900-2200 trophy range, bouncing back and forth between Arenas 6 and 7. Main account is level 8.

Air stuff
- Level 3 Baby Dragon (4 elixir)
- Level 3 Balloon (5 elixir)
- Level 8 minions (3 elixir)

Ground stuff
- Level 3 Golem (8 elixir)
- Level 6 Wizard (5 elixir)
- Level 7 Skeletons (1 elixir)

Other stuff
- Level 6 Fireball (4 elixir)
- Level 4 Freeze (4 elixir)

Average of 4.3 elixir. But has counters for a lot of stuff. Had minion horde and witch, but swapped for regular minions and skeletons, which reduced from 5.0 to 4.3

But I think my other "troll" deck is my favorite:

- Level 8 Mortar
- Level 8 Cannon
- Level 5 Inferno Tower

- Level 8 Minion Horde
- Level 7 Skeletons

- Level 6 Elixir Pump

- Level 8 Arrows
- Level 5 Rocket

You place Inferno and/or Cannon right at river close to one of your lanes, then put mortar one space back, but the enemy tower is still in range. Use minions and skeletons and arrows when the opponent tries to attack the mortar. Once you get a tower destroyed, you can often just flood your side of the base with defenses and elixir pumps to hold on for the win.

I've been having some trouble against some really good players who are running elixer pumps and P.E.K.K.As.

I've seen a fair amount of Exlier Pump, PEKKA, Freeze, Hog combos. Usually, they have a fireball and use goblins for the small stuff. They hold the front very well for the first minute or so, and after about 1.5-2 minutes, they are usually ahead of me in elixer (thanks to the pumps) that they just start spamming out pekkas/hogs/freeze back to back and I can't recover my elixer to continue countering.

I've defeated a couple players with this deck, but lost to more than I've won with this configuration.

I'm hoping that leveling up my Royal Giant will help me dish out more damage to towers. I feel like I should change my Mini PEKKA out for something with range (like maybe spear goblins or archers), but I enjoy countering Prince with Mini PEKKA and taking that 1 Elixer to the bank. Players with Bomb Towers wreck me

This game definitely feels like chasing Zen, which is frustrating at times.

My lowest level account is level 4 and I routinely beat level 6s up in Arena 4. So you don't need to pay anything. But of course you have to do a lot of waiting, per the Supercell model. Wait a long time, or spend money.

I'm about done with this game clearly people have figured out a way to cheat it's always foreigners. When you drop between 15-20 elixir worth of stuff immediately to start the game it's not even fun

There isn't any way to get more elixir than you should have, aside from elixir pumps

I get really pissed sometimes when I face like a half dozen mortar decks in a row. But ultimately it's helped me come up with more well rounded decks to use against lots of players.

Thats what I thought but in the past few days its become pretty obvious people found some way to cheat. It follows up on an notice from supercell about fairness of play so I assume they are aware and maybe those players get banned but its been extremely frustrating. I have had people dropping 20 elixir worth of stuff right on top of each other and I am dead within 30 seconds of the start. At first I thought I was just fucking up but then I started to count it and it was pretty obvious. It's always people with foreign names and they always start emoting and making laughing faces before the match even starts which makes it piss me off more.

You sure they're not just dropping a few low elixir cards? I think the only thing the mod apps can do is show opponent elixir and troop range

Like, somebody still can't drop a golem and Pekka at the same time.

I had one guy drop a prince, baby dragon, 6 flying minion group, and 4 man babarian group all on top of each other to start the game. Yes he could have dropped 2 of those but with all 4 there was nothing I could even do it just steam rolled my tower then the castle.

Got a Miner (one of the new legendary cards) in an Arena 6 Gold Chest. Crazy. This is my same account that got a Super Magical Chest back in Arena 2 lol. No legendaries on my other accounts though, including my main one. And I hit Arena 8 on my main account, but couldn't stay there. Should have, as you can buy legendary cards for gold from the shop in Arena 8. However they're like 40,000 each so it'd take me forever to save up.

I mix it up a bit.
Lvl 10 Fire Spirits
Lvl 10 Zap
Lvl 10 Arrows
Lvl 8 Rocket
Lvl 10 Bomber
Lvl 10 Minions
Lvl 1 Lumberjack (Arena 9 Super Magical Chest)
Lvl 7 Giant


I mix it up some. If I see a lot of Hog decks, I'll use Lvl 10 Telsa instead of Arrows. If I see a lot of Minions and Minion Hordes, I'll use arrows. If I see a lot of Big hitter decks, I'll swap out for my Lvl 1 Ice Wizard (Arena 9 Giant Chest). I was using a Lvl 11 Royal Giant until they nerfed it. I'm usually between 2900-3100.

I had a couple losses this afternoon where the game would lag like crazy with the red wifi signal on the screen. I THINK it was because I was in a weird area and my phone was switching from 3G to 4G or vice versa, but by the time I exited and reloaded I was 3 crowned. But I've never had issues with connection before unless I accidentally connect to some TWC public wifi or something. Initially I thought there might be some kind of lag glitch that my opponent was doing (level 9 with like 3250 trophies) but I probably just had a bad connection.

suck. I tried to create a call out thread, nothing offensive, just pointed out that a bro with lvl 11 knight, 10 stab/spear gobs, lvl 8 fireball, mini p, valk, pump, and ice wiz for good measure has 2420 wins and a max trophy level of 2675...currently trolling at 2476 and to get better.

Those dicks deleted the thread in 3 minutes. They wouldn't last an hour at the tdub I remember. Fucking clowns.

Finally cracked legendary today...paid the 9.99 for the legendary check and got the miner...paid 4.99 for the Arena 5 value pack and pulled the ice wiz out of the Super Magical. Have played 6 games with him and he is just as overpowered for me as he was against me. Decks that used to give me a ton of trouble so far have been made very easy.

Almost hit 3500 trophies with my Hog/Furnace deck. Key at higher trophy counts is to play much more defensive/counter-based, rather than going all out on offense...unless you see somebody drop a Hound early and you can send a quick hog.

^ Yeah, I paid $10 free google monies for the Arena 9 value pack, and 40k gold for the Princess. I already had a lvl1 Ice Wizzie, but got another in the value pack so he's level 2. Having him has proven very worth while, and the princess is impressive too. She's fragile though, so knowing when and where to place her most effectively is key.

The Mega Minion Rare bundle isn't worth the gems. I've seen a few people with lvl 6 mega minions. They aren't OP, but they aren't something to ignore either. The Mega Minion has value for sure.

I don't know if I can handle that kind of stress TT :p I've noticed hogs are quite effective if you can catch your opponent on an elixer crisis.

Did one of the 10 gem challenges, lost the first, won 8 in a row, then lost 2. The chest I got sucked, but I would've gotten some epics if I had done the 100 gem thing. Fun to do, though.

I've played so many princesses lately that it isn't funny. She is fragile but her long range fucks everything up if you don't carry arrows because you have to waste something on her for the smart people that drop her in the opposite lane. And people on reddit still bitch that the nerf killed her. Fuck them.

New deck. Does much better with all the new decks since the introduction of 2 more air units (Armored Minion and Inferno Dragon) Also, it's always nice to have something offset hogs (hidden Tesla). Hidden Tesla is so underused. It's a wonderful defense for the elixer.

I've started scouring the tournaments for open tournaments to play. Got in a 1000 person tournament this morning and thought I was going to snag 100 cards from it and ran into several bad starting cards that ruined it.

Got into another 100 person tourney that they forgot to password until I got in...only ended up playing against 25 other guys and finished third after switching decks twice mid way. Ended up with

3M
Pump
Barbs
Zap
Freeze
Princess
Miner
IW

And in a couple wins never even had to bring the 3Ms to play. I'm able to play 4-5 different decks and stay in Legendary so that keeps me entertained.
