Could you name a specific cop? Generalizations rarely hold up.

Ok, So I'm about to offer up a viable explanation. Of course, I understand that people will say that since I'm a cop and have been for 13 years, I'll always cover up and be apologetic in regards to all cop's actions. But hear me out.

Body cams are new. Until recently, we never had to worry about cutting them on or off or activating them. As an incident is rapidly evolving we have to be sure to do a multitude of things, the most important is watching hands and ensuring there are no weapons. Our minds are usually honed in on staying alive first and dealing with the incident next. Activating body cams is something new that we are all trying to get used to. We try to always remember to push the button on our cams but sometimes we forget. There are a million other things going through our minds. In fact, many departments enforce disciplinary actions if an officer forgets to activate it.

In this situation, what could be an explanation is that the officer located the narcotics and was unsure where it came from. He picked it up along with the wallet and realized that he hadn't activated the camera. So he thinks to himself, crap I don't want to get in trouble for not activating my camera and finding evidence without it being recorded. He then places it in the wallet and then activates the camera. With the camera now on he reenacts finding the narcotics as if the camera was rolling all along. He is trying to avoid a policy violation, not planting narcotics. Either way, its wrong and he should be disciplined appropriately. Even up to termination. It looks terrible. I realize that. Maybe he did actually plant the drugs. Not all cops are good guys and I understand that.

I just wanted to offer up a possible explanation.

As to why cops are such pussies? Some are. But go to a prison sometime and ask, how did all of the murders, rapist, and bad mother fuckers get there. It sure wasn't because they let pussies put them there.

Is there an incident that inspired the OP?

Or is this just a general statement regarding using deadly force vs physical restraint of an assailant?

Mainly storage. We work 12 hour shifts. You would be looking at servers the size of texas for a moderate sized department.

The other issue is that we go to the bathroom from time to time and Im sure that IA doesnt need to see my dingus 4 or 5 times a shift.

What's bullshit? The possible explanation? I didn't say its what happened, I'm just saying its a possibility.

Why condemn the officer before an investigation is complete? Or are all officers guilty until proven innocent? Shouldn't officers be afforded the same ability to a fair trial as anyone else?

The only evidence that was presented was by a defense attorney and the media. We all know how honest they are.

Or I watched a video of a policeman putting drugs in a suspects wallet, when the police report states that they found the drugs in his pocket.

That and police shooting unarmed black people.

^^^^ That's the thing though - cops don't get a fair trial. Most of them don't get one at all. People view this as unfair. These grand juries decide if a cop goes to trial. 98% of the high profile cases don't go to trial.

Police officers are persecuted in the court of public opinion no matter what the evidence and therefore, never receive a fair trial. At least a grand jury is comprised of our peers, presented initial evidence regarding probable cause, and decide based upon that. 98 percent of the high profile cases are unindictable because there is no probable cause and the evidence portrays the truth, not the image the media paints in the minds of the public.

I don't agree with the notion that all cops are cowards or bullies or corrupt, but from the people I knew who became cops, and my limited interaction with cops (back in my earlier days) i assume a larger proportion of them are versus the general population.

I understand that. I know of cops that have abused their powers. I hate the fact that they are in the same profession as I am. Its hard to change people's minds once the general public opinion is negative. The actions of a few make it exponentially harder to gain back the trust of the citizens we serve.

There are days in the this profession that I want to just hang it up. I drive by people on the street that look at me like I personally am responsible for any and all of the injustices of police officers. I'm not. Nor are a vast majority of us. If they could see what I am responsible for, they may look at me in a different light.

They don't see that I just responded to an unresponsive person who had OD'ed on heroin but the dose of Narcan that I gave them brought them back to life. They don't see the number of times that I've failed at CPR. They don't see the call that I will always remember, a mother running with her lifeless 2 year old that was dead and she was yelling for me to save. They don't see the horrific tragedies that I've bared witness to.

All they see is the media's portrayal of us. They may see the officer that pulled them over once and gave them a ticket. They may see the officer that arrested a friend for something trivial. But they never see the horrors.

But hey, I do this job because I make a difference and I know that to be true. I don't need the media's portrayal of me for me to value myself or what I do.

So, yes I am sorry for the injustices that people have faced at the hands of the police. But for the vast majority of us, we're just trying to make it home alive and feel like we made a difference.

You are a tool of the state designed to protect the property interests of the wealthy. The only moral thing you can do is quit your job. If you won't quit, then just shut the fuck up.

sounds like you should quit the force and become a paramedic. then you won't feel an obligation to blindly defend the corrupt cops who planted drugs in that guy's wallet.

its simply reality, a truthful statement. it doesnt have to be a cop vs unarmed person, it can be a regulr joe vs a drunk moron in a bar. just because a person is unarmed does not mean they cant severely hurt you

If this was truly the case, and he didn't want to have his integrity questioned then he should have said something IMMEDIATELY, not try to do a "take 2" and film a fake recovery. Maybe call the supervising officer and let him know. (or maybe not, seems like good cops like to cover for bad cops).

No doubt, some cops are actually good, they normally try to do the right thing and do their job with integrity - however what really pisses me off is that these cops cover for the bad ones. In my opinion, they're worse than the bad cops b/c they had the chance to fix the problem but instead became part of the problem, instead of part of the solution.

Yea. F that explanation. Fire the officer and drop drug charges on suspect. As an officer stiffy should condemn the actions of this officer. Instead he just says "i know it looks bad but you dont know what we go through." Stiffy goes on to say "crap i dont know where this came from" i better put it in his wallet and turn on my camera. WAT!? Thanks for solidifying the point that you think its ok to tamper with evidence as long as the means fit your end. You chose the job. Dont come in hear preaching your woes as a way to your justification of your brothers not doing their job ethically. Immoral and unethical behavior are just a whoops to these officers. Even when trying to admonish, officer stiffy cant figure out how to say that tampering with evidence is ALWAYS wrong. Gtfo .. stiffy sad to see you leave to do your duty on the streets. But hey your boys need you to defend their bullshit behavior with your creative story telling. Your a real champion of the force. Probably up for promotion. #Blue code matters.
