He was my academic advisor.Apparently now is a bad time for people I knew in college.
2/10/2016 8:20:23 PM
I know Scott from working with him and when I was an undergraduate there. He is not a bad person, just a lapse in judgement, he'll be back on the grind before you know it.
2/10/2016 8:43:26 PM
$65,000??????? Wtf????????I was an agri-life representative for a year and they were stingy as fuck about distributing money to the sub-participating student organizations. I was briefly involved with alpha zeta and they were stingy as fuck too. Where tha fuck was all that money hiding at when I was in school?
2/10/2016 8:49:17 PM
apparently in this dudes' pockets
2/10/2016 8:50:03 PM
^^ I was involved with them too...they each had the money but the point of having it, we wrote in, is that you must use it all each year. It's easy to tell when someone takes out money...especially 65k worth.I never worked with him in the dept. but you play with fire you get burned.
2/11/2016 11:17:30 AM
^^^^ Seriously?! The dude is going to be a felon.
2/11/2016 1:13:14 PM
A highly trained Phd scientist, with really a more or less petty crime that is non-violent? Although it was a substantial amount of money it's not that bad of a crime within itself. If he stole 1k or 65k makes no difference really. I'm sure a small college would be interested in recruiting him once the smoke clears with this. Maybe at his interview, they'll shut the door and everyone will look out the corner of their eyes at each other and bust out laughing and say "welcome to the club Scott HAHAHAHAHAHAHA".
2/11/2016 1:51:35 PM
2/11/2016 2:01:29 PM
It is true, I know Scott quite well.He is a human, you know, that knows other humans, you know.
2/11/2016 2:14:23 PM
^^^This will stick on his record forever. He won't be near a University for awhile.
2/11/2016 2:16:33 PM
He's a fucking thief is what he is.
2/11/2016 2:16:46 PM
Hahaha, you guys need to clam down. First of all, we don't know what happened. Secondly, what, does he deserve to never have a good job again even if he is convicted? And you have to consider he probably has enough money to hold himself for quite sometime and probably has no mortgage payment. [Edited on February 11, 2016 at 2:20 PM. Reason : /]
2/11/2016 2:19:04 PM
the fact that he stole FROM HIS EMPLOYER.
2/11/2016 2:19:53 PM
Aw, why are you mad?Oh and he can probably do an early retirement from the State. He straight.[Edited on February 11, 2016 at 2:21 PM. Reason : /]
2/11/2016 2:21:03 PM
Why are you defending him? The dude stole (over several years) $65,000 that was raised through fundraising by students (and yeah, the amount does matter). I don't know much about the legal system, but I would think he might be spending some time in prison.[Edited on February 11, 2016 at 2:27 PM. Reason : ]
2/11/2016 2:26:53 PM
His salary was $99,376.
2/11/2016 2:29:32 PM
Wow, you guys are trolling now.I predicted Mike Vick going back the NFL and predict him being a professor again. It's not about defending him, I'm saying just because he did wrong doesn't mean his life should be over.^ Base Salary I would assume. [Edited on February 11, 2016 at 2:31 PM. Reason : /]
2/11/2016 2:30:43 PM
I don't think anyone has said that his life should be over.

2/11/2016 2:39:13 PM
Dude is 57 years old. When is he gonna get his next job as a professor with a felony on his record?
2/11/2016 2:40:23 PM
A small college probably, and it depends on your research and what a dept is looking for. It's quite possible. It's not like he would be applying for a secretary job or something.[Edited on February 11, 2016 at 2:42 PM. Reason : /]

Nope, Jim Black and all of those arrogant assholes of the like get their big pensions while in prison as we speak.^ Why Podunk Eastern NC? You saying the people there deserve the felon professor and Wake County doesn't because Wake CO is not Podunk and the people of Eastern NC are stupid anyways? Logic man.[Edited on February 11, 2016 at 2:53 PM. Reason : /]

He'll get a job soonAs a rape victim
2/11/2016 2:52:13 PM
You really think he'll spend a day in prison for this? Hahaha, that's cute.
2/11/2016 2:54:38 PM
I don't know him. But I doubt he has the political connections that someone like Jim Black does.
2/11/2016 2:56:13 PM
I don't understand.
2/11/2016 3:14:53 PM
2/11/2016 3:16:12 PM
Wow, your attitude makes you worst than any thief I've ever known. Congrats. Just remember that you have to live with an asshole for life.
2/11/2016 3:17:34 PM
do you even know this guy?
2/11/2016 3:20:35 PM
^Heathens stick together.
2/11/2016 3:26:38 PM
People never cease to amaze me. You think someone on the internet calling a thief an asshole is worse than the actual thief that stole $65,000? (especially a thief that probably didn't even need the money)
2/11/2016 3:28:00 PM
^ I imagine he's trolling...but that doesn't change the fact that his "friend" is a thieving piece of shit.
2/11/2016 3:38:38 PM
A fucking petty crime. Early retirement. Seedless is going HAM ITT.
2/11/2016 4:14:10 PM
You only have to work for the State for 30 years to get full retirement. That's were that can from, not the traditional retirement that you are thinking about. Petty as in no one is hurt and its not like he stole someone's retirement funds. You guys all must be Republicans.
2/11/2016 4:19:27 PM
2/11/2016 4:24:34 PM
Dude stole $65k from student groups, not Goldman Sachs.

whyyou make almost 100k a year. Roughly half to taxes, so 50k take home. Why steal 65k which is roughly take home pay for a year? Now you got caught, lawyer fees, lost your job, going to have get a shitty 40k job now. why do this.there has to be more to the story.
2/12/2016 1:20:54 PM
While I never had him as a professor, I remember seeing this guy around back when I was in undergrad and hearing all the animal science club members dropping his name. These were the type of people that took the club way too seriously and were all trying to jockey for position and approval among faculty so they could get recommendations for their vet school applications. I always got the impression he had relationships with his students similar to Slughorn from Harry Potter. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a case where seedless is defending a former mentor rather than old Scotty he "worked with back in the day." The dude fucked up. There's no reason to blindly defend someone's actions just because you know them.
