My Logitech T-RB22 (thumb trackball) is inoperable. Replacements run in the hundreds (there are some on ebay for ~$100+, but I haven't been able to win one). I've tried other various trackballs, but I haven't liked them so far, so I guess I'm going back to a standard mouse. Any recommendations for a mouse that's good for CAD work? My requirements beyond the scroll wheel, L, R, are 2 programmable (eg, back/forward buttons) and the scroll wheel must also be clickable. Beyond that is fine. Before the answer of "just any mouse with those buttons", I have one now, some generic microsoft mouse, it's ok, but certainly isn't as comfortable or precise as my old trackball.I've seen some good reviews for this mouse, but have never heard of the brand.http://www.3dconnexion.com/products/cadmouse.htmlThanks[Edited on February 1, 2016 at 1:09 PM. I've played with the 3D mouse they make and it's a neat little toy. The only advantage of that CAD mouse over conventional mice that I see is the dedicated middle button. I think you can get an equivalent mouse for much less money. YMMV.

You don't like the Logitech m570?

Buy a replacement and charge it to the game

^^no. maybe if I would have started out on thumb trackballs I would, but I started with a finger trackball (and now I see a typo in the OP - the T-RB22 is a finger trackball, not a thumb trackball) and couldn't get over the hump with the thumb... I guess I'm too old to learn new tricks.

have you tried other finger trackballs?

No, but when I searched for some (been a while) none were set up like I need it (many have the scroll wheel behind the trackball; whereas I prefer it to the left so you can have dual operation), or did not have a scroll wheel. Some that did have this setup were $200+ and others were brands I've never heard of, sold on ebay with shady ads. I welcome any input you have on these.[Edited on February 2, 2016 at 9:18 AM. Time to learn how to draft all over again. I have largely had to draft with boring basic bitch mice. Christ, for a time from 2009 to 2010 I was using a ball mouse that I had to clean once a week. Ball mice are ass (jfc why did the government give me a herman miller aeron chair and an older dual core computer with a ball mouse and CRT?).I learned to draft using a thumb-based track ball in a couple days, but largely draft using your everyday boring ass mouse. Time to relearn drafting, mang!
