Personally I put my log into things.But seriously folks I think the origin of this arises from the ancient naval aquatic times wherein the sailors of ye olden days would cast thine logs overboard to measure the knots at which they travel.Thus recorded logs were maintained in the ship's "log" or also known as the "Ship's Interwebz"Within this interwebz would be the "log" where information concerning myspace and much later in time facebook would be read by those who had forggoten their "logins"

for some weird reason, the phrase "log into" has always grated on me, but I find "log in to" to be a-okay.
