Yeah, one can't help but think they rhetoric spewed forth by the right wing, in regards to the BLM movement and their protesters, influences these nutjobs to do crazy shit like shoot people. This is on the heels of an activist in a Trump rally getting beaten, kicked, and choked.
11/24/2015 10:26:44 AM
^ they were shouting "all lives matter" while kicking and choking him.The Man Beaten And Choked At A Donald Trump Rally Tells His Storyhttp://thinkprogress.org/politics/2015/11/23/3725051/trump-protester-beatenhe even says a cop was standing right there when he was being choked, and instead of helping him, he stopped him from defending himself.the N word was also thrown around repeatedly according to him

I'm not the only one who thought:

11/24/2015 11:21:51 AM
Where are all the white leaders condemning this violence?
11/24/2015 12:08:43 PM
^ lol
11/24/2015 12:14:40 PM
The shooters are still in hiding/on the run, and it's thought, but not known, that they're the same guys who put a video out threatening the protesters a few days ago.Trump supporters on twitter are saying they were fellow BLM protesters who were attacked and fired in self defense (but then went into hiding??).

No real good information i can see on this. White dudes bringing gun to a BLM protest seems needlessly confrontational but it legitimately could be self defense whether or not they actually are white supremacists..[Edited on November 24, 2015 at 1:47 PM. Reason : Salon sucks]
11/24/2015 1:37:18 PM
^^^the video linked above definitely sounds like self defense. Confrontation started, white people ran away (fulfilling duty to retreat), angry mob kept chasing them, then the shooting breaks out. It's pretty stupid to carry a gun with you to a location that you know could turn violent when you could have just as easily avoided going at all. It's also pretty stupid to protest cops for abusing their authority yet have no problem with violence when you foolishly assume you have the upper hand due to numbers.
11/24/2015 2:04:17 PM
^^ it could be, but that doesn't seem likely considering they ran and some are still hiding-- why not go straight to police and explain what happened? The guy in the video (not that this video is conclusive) says they lured them away from cameras to shoot them, they've also been threatened by white supremacist in the past few days that fit, and these guys supposedly fit that description (ironically...). There's been no other cases of protester-on-protestor violence of this nature either (and this wouldn't be the first time people tried to provoke BLM).Based on what is known, seems more likely they were trying to kill, or at least fight, some blacks, than this being a simple case of mistaken identity and self defense.[Edited on November 24, 2015 at 2:04 PM. 11/24/2015 2:04:41 PM
I can only believe that they toted guns to that rally looking for any excuse to use them.
11/24/2015 2:07:21 PM
so why chase after them?
11/24/2015 2:10:00 PM
^ why hide from the cops after shooting someone in self defense? And if the 2 guys in the video saw they had guns and were being antagonistic, others may have too. It's not the best idea to chase people like that, but it's not a bad idea to stop people like that either, they could have been saving some other protestors' lives.[Edited on November 24, 2015 at 2:14 PM. 11/24/2015 2:10:51 PM
taking fisticuffs to a gun fight is not "good offense"[Edited on November 24, 2015 at 2:15 PM. Reason : you edited your comment, but what you wrote is still equally as stupid.]
11/24/2015 2:14:20 PM
^ it's not, but it's better than nothing... it's what some police now recommend you do in an active shooter situation.[Edited on November 24, 2015 at 2:17 PM. Reason : so wanting to stop bad guys with guns is now "stupid"... lol]
11/24/2015 2:15:24 PM
in an active shooter situation, or at least most of the recent ones, the shooters have been in confined buildings with the shooter in close proximity to the person being attacked and the shooter is closing ground. I would wholeheartedly agree with attacking your assailant, eve unarmed, in that situation. That is the exact opposite of what happened here, with the attack happening in an open environment where the person with the gun had the ability to maintain distance from the mob.[Edited on November 24, 2015 at 2:19 PM. Reason : ^we don't know they're bad guys, so why stop them? isn't profiling what BLM is against?]
11/24/2015 2:18:17 PM
I'm not saying you should chase down a possible shooter, but can you see why someone would want to? Not everyone is content to sit back and let bad guys run around unabated, some people want to stop them. I don't fault anyone for trying, even if they sometimes fail.[Edited on November 24, 2015 at 2:19 PM. Reason : ]
11/24/2015 2:19:37 PM
drop the bad guy narrative. They saw white people, confronted them, chased them, and got shot. BLM is protesting this kind of mentality from police, so why is it ok when an angry mob does it?
11/24/2015 2:21:09 PM
11/24/2015 2:23:01 PM
witnesses stated that the protesters initiated the altercation, not the shooters.you realize that you're demonstrating an explicit bias against anyone using a gun in a justifiable manner or an angry mob being partially responsible for the altercation?
11/24/2015 2:26:39 PM
LOL, you are really reaching now. I'll let you cool down a bit.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/11/24/five-people-shot-near-minneapolis-protest-cops-searching-for-3-white-male-suspects/There's a little more information there, for anyone who doesn't think that if you "justifiably" shoot someone, going into hiding from the police is the reasonable thing to do.
11/24/2015 2:36:09 PM
Go read Eleusis's posts in the Trayvon Martin thread, when Zimmerman was chasing a suspicious person, he was being a good neighbor, when BLM protestors follow provocateurs they are the ones escalating the situation.Dude has a boner for people that incite violence and then use it as a convenient excuse to escalate to gun use. Completely insane.
11/24/2015 2:43:57 PM
So, if Trayvon Martin had a gun on him (despite his age), he would have been just fine and dandy to shoot Zimmerman for following him?Because from what I've read from witnesses, the BLM crowd was following the shooters.[Edited on November 24, 2015 at 2:49 PM. Reason : TF and I must be sharing notes]
11/24/2015 2:48:11 PM
the protesters had already punched the shooters prior to the shooters running away, according to the video up top. The escalation of force was already there, unlike in the Trayvon Martin case.I never inferred to Zimmerman as anything other than a moron who unfortunately was justified in his actions with regards to how self defense laws are written. They arrested a Hispanic man that is supposedly part of a white supremacy group?
11/24/2015 2:55:52 PM
Can you fire 15 shots into a group of people as self defense? Not trolling, serious question. Seems like that it kind of reckless..

the release of the Chicago murder dashcam footage is probably going to have Minneapolis even more riled up after all this. To add insult to injury, the cops managed to detain a Hispanic man in his thirties when they're looking for three white males in their early-to-mid twenties.

^apparently one of the guys in that video was the Hispanic guy that was released already.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hc3c6cK9p_wVideo taken by the men that are in custody. The audio is conveniently missing, but it's more than anyone else is uploading. There's got to be half a dozen other videos that were shot of this taking place, but they won't come out unless they clearly support an agenda. The video does show them getting surrounded by a mob of people and being blocked in by a chain link fence. The video gets too shaky for me to determine if anyone is getting hit, but the witness video mentions them punching them into the fence.

11/26/2015 1:58:39 PM
^^ again, is indiscriminately shooting into a crowd ok if you feel threatened? I'm asking seriously.I don't even know if MN has a stand your ground type law but does that apply to large groups where there are clearly innocent bystanders.
11/26/2015 6:23:44 PM
Maybe the Minneapolis crowd should start looting and pillaging. It's the best way to increase public sympathy!
11/26/2015 9:02:42 PM

Follow up question would be if you can't define your target because of chaos and/or adrenalin and hit innocents I'm guessing there ar charges that would have to be brought regardless of the self defense claim.I'm actually asking this without specifically referring to this case since, as you said, we don't have clear details yet.
11/28/2015 7:19:03 AM
^ there's no concealed carry or self defense handbook that tells you to fire at a group of people, then run and hide from the cops. The people currently trying to frame this as self defense just want to bend over backwards to not have to admit that we have a big and growing problem with right-wing terrorism, which the FBI and SPLC and ADL have been tracking an increase in for years, since Obama was elected.Based on what's currently known about the situation, self-defense is the far less likely explanation here.
11/28/2015 2:16:34 PM
it can't be too obvious that it wasn't self defense, as they still haven't filed charges yet. There appeared to be only one of the men that did any shooting, and he called a police friend two hours later to admit to what happened. The other men that didn't do the shooting turned themselves in. It's really hard to describe that as "going into hiding".
