B's Barbecue is all you need to know...
10/14/2015 11:17:02 PM
Sweet I'll check it out. What else? My gf will be going out there for work a bunch and has offered to bring me back trays
10/14/2015 11:20:29 PM
Skylight Inn in Ayden is pretty good, she could also go a little out of the way on the drive home (assuming you're in Raleigh) and hit Wilber's in Goldsboro. But if I could only choose one tray of BBQ to have the rest of my days...it would be B's...
10/14/2015 11:30:48 PM
only problem with B's is no collards
10/14/2015 11:47:49 PM
B's...Wilbur's is too far compared to the legend that it used to carry. There will be a new one opening up soon, a whole hog retaurant with open pit, but not sure when that'll be.
10/15/2015 12:03:11 AM
B's...definitely.
10/15/2015 9:13:05 AM
Parker's.
10/15/2015 9:58:37 AM
There is no good barbecue east of Greensboro.Lexington style FTW
10/15/2015 10:21:34 AM
Parker's is on 301, a mile off of 264 on the way home.[Edited on October 15, 2015 at 10:38 AM. Reason : in Wilson]
10/15/2015 10:38:33 AM
Grab some bullseye at the bilo.
10/15/2015 10:48:59 AM

10/15/2015 11:00:20 AM
what the hell is that shit

Moore's Old Tyme BBQ In New Bern is pretty good and there is a Moore's that just opened up in Winterville but I'm not sure if it's affiliated.Sam Jones BBQ is going to be opening soon in Greenville hopefully. He's the son of aforementioned Pete Jones / Skylight Inn in Ayden.Wilbur's in Goldsboro comes up a lotParkers in WilsonA lot of people don't care for Greenville Parkers but it's pretty good imo. I was actually a little disappointed in B's. The BBQ didn't blow me away by any means but it was good. I took about 5 years to finally try it and the chicken was incredibly dry I would be hard pressed to try it again. It's just so inconvenient so unless someone is going already I'm never going to make that journey to stand in line.
10/15/2015 11:05:02 AM
Parkers is super overrated. In my opinion, if you're not cooking with wood you're making substandard BBQ.

uh, yes it fuckin is https://www.facebook.com/Parkers-Barbecue-Wilson-834716046551869/2514 US Hwy 301 SWilson, NC 27893are you saying that's not a real Parker's, or are you just wrong and being a dick about it?
10/15/2015 4:39:06 PM
http://www.parkersbbq.com/locationsI have never been to Parker's in Wilson, not saying there isn't one. I am saying on the other hand that there is in fact 2 Parker's in Greenville.
10/15/2015 4:43:59 PM
OK. i wasn't saying there weren't any in greenville (although i didn't realize there were), but I knew there was one in Wilson. Odd that the Wilson location isn't listed on their website, is it the same Parker's?
10/15/2015 4:54:22 PM
I asked on their facebook page if they were affiliated with the ones in greenville...
10/15/2015 5:23:36 PM
so to settle the debate, Parker's is on 301, a mile off of 264.
10/15/2015 5:29:06 PM
10/15/2015 5:31:00 PM
the one in Wilson is, in fact, THE real Parker's.
10/15/2015 6:20:16 PM
You're all bickering about where Parker's is and isn't. Parker's is dog food compared to B's. This question was answered in the first response. Now, get to B's and stuff you face.
10/15/2015 8:24:47 PM
ugh I hate this part of the state
10/15/2015 8:34:12 PM
Bs
10/15/2015 8:53:16 PM
I "get" the hate for Greenville Parkers, it's pretty average (at best), but it's still generally a stop for me on the way through Greenville. It's cheap, decent, has that ENC ambiance and people watching, the tea is syrupy , and the corn sticks are the icing on the cake (def get corns sticks over hush puppies IMO, getting both is the best option). If you are a BBQ aficionado or foodie, then def look elsewhere. If you just want some ENC Q or some good Instagram photos, then I think Parkers fits the bill.
10/15/2015 8:56:06 PM
Corn sticks are the bomb

The bbq at Greenville Parkers has nasty bits.B's is better, but Skylight is the best.Bbq grosses me out for the most part, so if I say it's good, then it is.
10/16/2015 9:34:17 AM
B's is pretty good, but Bum's in Ayden is where it's at. No one seems to know about the place, but it's always on fucking point.http://bumsrestaurant.com/
10/16/2015 9:07:12 PM
No mention of the Skyligh Inn? Hands down the best BBQ in Eastern NC.[Edited on October 17, 2015 at 6:54 PM. Reason : Whoops]
10/17/2015 6:53:33 PM
^This guy knows.
10/18/2015 2:37:37 AM
^x3 prob most useful info I've gotten out of this thread lol. Definitely gonna check that out.
10/18/2015 9:15:15 PM
Great. The thing about BBQ restaurants is, look, I love BBQ as much as the next guy, but I want some variety too. A lot of places only have some shitty coleslaw. I want some real goddamn sides. Bum's fucking delivers.CabbageCollardsRutabagaSweet PotatoMashed PotatoBrunswick StewHAMAlso, they have a sweet potato muffin AND banana pudding that will blow your goddamn mind.
10/18/2015 9:47:24 PM
While I'm usually all aboard the fuck coleslaw train, I had some at Wilber's today that was very good. But yah a lot of the old-school BBQ spots have far too traditional sides for my taste...and their stew is usually lacking flavor for me too, Wilber's and Cooper's included there.
10/18/2015 11:12:37 PM
Old Hickory House (western BBQ) had the best stew. But they closed down
10/18/2015 11:13:47 PM
So what's your second place?I will say my stew has a shitload of tomato/ketchup based BBQ sauce in it, so I suppose I won't be too happy eating stew lacking those flavors...most are lacking flavor in general.[Edited on October 18, 2015 at 11:20 PM. Reason : The best have lots of pork/flavor.]
10/18/2015 11:19:34 PM
This stuff is always good
10/18/2015 11:50:35 PM
A new place in Greenville that's worth checking out is Sam Jones BBQ. It's tasty.
1/18/2016 10:30:33 PM
Isn't that the "spinoff" of Skylight?
