http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/01/living/no-show-wedding-guests-receive-bill-feat/index.html

tl;dr
couple is invited to wedding and invitation says no kids, they RSVP, they don't show because they say childcare fell through, they receive an invoice for the meal they didn't eat, they post the invoice on facebook

my question is this: is posting the invoice on facebook equally as tacky as sending an invoice?

I say that it is, or is really close to it

It's definitely tacky'ish to send a bill to a guest who no-showed.

However, they didn't even bother to at least send a courtesy text to the wedding organizer, and then decided to be douchetastic enough to post this crap on facebook is 10x more cringeworthy.

It's poor taste in my opinion. Folks these days are unwilling to use this type of scenario as a learning experience about their friends. Personally, it's worth 70 bucks to know that basically this friend is shitty for not giving a heads-up or apology or anything. Take your losses and keep moving. Yes, I know it sucks...I had the same thing happen to a couple people at my wedding.

This is pretty much expected when you're planning a wedding. It's annoying and inconsiderate on the part of the guests, but it's going to happen.

We had at least 5 no shows because they were hungover from Halloween.

i've no-showed to a wedding because i got sick. i didn't notify anyone because i only knew the bride and groom and not their family and figured they were too busy to care about it, it was a huge wedding anyways so i don't think i made a difference food-wise.

I didn't know what the appropriate protocol was (actually, I'm still not sure) so I just told some other friends and then sent a congratulation card apologizing for the absence with my wedding gift.

I don't get why they'd send an invoice. They were going to pay for the meal no matter what. If cash was an issue perhaps they should have shortened the guest list.

I had no-shows at mine

I went to their wedding, went to the open bar, and drink after drink (which they had to pay for)

most them were just opened and not drunk on the table

considering they gave me panthers tickets last year, I don't think they ever knew

What is an off brand beer?

I've never seen one, I don't think.

Seriously, the shit's ridiculous.

_____

I think sending the invoice is way worse than posting it on FB.
