http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3230854/Books are written by Game of Thrones writer assistant and collaborators. To premere on SyFi in December 2015. According to some places, a second season has already been ordered and writing started. Should be interesting if they can pull off some of the same stuff GoT does, but in a technical way.

No titays allowed though on SyFi.

I love this series. The books are awesome. It's actually a pen name for Daniel Abraham (who has quite a long history of writing) and Ty Franck (who is not as established but still a good writer). I think they are up to 5 books now with quite a few novellas as well.Aside from the books - I really hope the show ends up doing well. I think it's going to be BSGesque but with a mix of a detective show.

Saw a trailer and the premise is intriguing. 200 years in the future and humans have colonized Mars and the Asteroid Belt. Series deals with political conflicts between Earth, Mars, and the Belters.

so another boring crime procedural... just in space[Edited on September 8, 2015 at 10:59 AM. Reason : i do like the books, just hope they minimize the detective part]
9/8/2015 10:58:23 AM
well the first book is like entirely detective based. plus some scifi action too but the main character is arguably Miller in that book
9/9/2015 7:00:47 PM
First episode is up on the various Syfy apps. So far I liked it. I'm curious to see what is going on with Avasarala and the terrorist since she's not even in the first book.

watched this finally last night - thoughts from an avid reader of the series:- this show is going to be good. not like groundbreaking/best show of all time good but it is what the scifi TV world needs.- some minor changes from book to tv so far but nothing that is going to ruin the series imo.- naomi is fly as hell.- the flip and burn was one of the coolest scenes in a tv show i've seen. - love all the casting except for maybe Amos - I always pictured him a little bigger, as in fatter. but miller/naomi/holden are all fabulous.- little details like belter hand gestures/tattoos/body size/bird flapping wings in low gravity were greatnegatives:- sound mixing seemed off at parts - during a certain ice scene with a song playing it was hard to hear the dialogue of characters- thats it?this show is going to get dark and i'm pretty excited for it. I know it's more common nowadays with scifi concepts but having ships in space that are aerodynamic is absolutely absurd! i love that the expanse is demonstrating that functionality of space ships is more important than ships that would need that aerodynamic shape to fly in an atmosphere environment.

I like it, but the character casting is not at all how I pictured any of the characters. Shohreh Aghdashloo as Avasarala is the worst imo, I can't stand her voice and have never liked anything that she was in. Chrisjen is supposed to be strong and not take any shit, but that woman makes every role she's in sound whiny. Also isn't Avasarala Indian? Is there really not an Indian actress available?
11/26/2015 1:10:49 PM
Watched first show. Realistic environments first most, as well as detailing the evolutional changes that have changed the Belters.
12/5/2015 9:39:43 AM
so how is it?
12/15/2015 8:11:38 AM
really good so far, but Shohreh Aghdashloo is the worstepisodes 1, 3 and 4 are online but not episode 2[Edited on December 15, 2015 at 1:51 PM. Reason : .]

We have a captain that makes mistakes, which is refreshing. "Sent out distress call, buys us insurance, someone might've heard it.""We were within range of their jammers. " know they didn't mean for it to be funny, but reminds me of all those times you work hard to do everything right and it still blows up in your face (no spoilers please)[Edited on December 16, 2015 at 10:39 AM. episode 4 was awesomepoor Shed Avasarala's and Miller's timelines are both slow burns in comparison to what's going on with the Canterbury 5. The interrogator/chief Marine on the Donnager reminds me of an elf from the Hobbit's Middle Earth. He just has that look. Thought he was a great actor and hope he lives on although looking at the episode 5 preview at the end of episode 4 I notice no shots of him.Without wanting to get this spoiled by anyone that did read the books, here's my guess at this point in time on what went on with the ships in space. Looking at cast lists on Wikipedia, I know ahead of time that Chad Johnson is the OPA head. My guess is the Mormons paid a mint to have their 100-year sleeper ship built, and Johnson's crew that built that ship used that money to build ship technology far above the capabilities of the UN Navy and Martian Navy. The Martian Navy were beaten because they only had to wargame in the past against the UN Navy, which have been established as weaker than Mars. I still have no clue about what Julie Mao is supposed to be or represent. My guess is Miller is off thinking she is OPA.

I'm envious of what you're going to experience in the upcoming episodes/seasons. On the other hand I'm still excited to see the adaptation of one of my favorite series.
1/2/2016 6:30:44 AM
SyFi picked up a second season
1/2/2016 4:48:59 PM
i forgot syfy could do good shows if they tried
1/14/2016 12:31:11 PM
Anderson Dawes is an awesome character. Sees himself as a kind of American revolutionary.
1/14/2016 6:13:16 PM
i lol'd when i found out the main captain guy is the guy who throws fireballs in Sky High.Solid show though[Edited on January 14, 2016 at 7:38 PM. Reason : .]
1/14/2016 7:37:41 PM
really? haha
1/14/2016 11:59:36 PM
Read the first book in the series then completely forgot they were making a TV series (had read about it earlier last year) and just watched the first episode. Pretty good so far.
1/15/2016 11:42:54 AM
Ep6 was one of my favs I think. love seeing miller's story pan out.Maybe I missed it though but I feel like they didn't explain enough where the Roci was headed next. Fred king of just hooked up the ship with new shit then they were like okay see ya later[Edited on January 16, 2016 at 12:25 PM. Reason : .]
1/16/2016 12:25:04 PM
I think Fred set them up to go to the Scopuli to find someone.
1/17/2016 7:18:45 PM
This is awesome

So season 1 is pretty much book 1? I need to read the second one. The show has been great so far.
1/27/2016 10:44:56 AM
Kinda, they are adding the Avasarala stuff that doesn't really start till later
1/27/2016 12:40:46 PM
This show is great.
1/30/2016 1:27:41 PM
this week's episode was probably my favorites. the final scenes in the blue falcon with miller and holden's crew were awesome.this is definltely a slow-burn show though like GoT where things start to get nuts eps 8-10. and well as the story goes the next two episodes should be exciting for sure.[Edited on January 30, 2016 at 9:52 PM. Reason : .]
1/30/2016 9:51:15 PM
"How could you leave Earth?""Everything I loved was dying."-great lines
2/3/2016 5:51:45 AM
Good lord this show can get brutal, but it's so good.
2/13/2016 10:03:49 AM
Through episode 7, really good so far. The spy in E7 was driving me crazy until I realized it was Adam Jensen from Deus Ex.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCkNwllUOQY

Binge watched the first season this week, A+
1/28/2017 5:55:46 PM
This shit is soooo good
1/29/2017 4:15:25 PM
it bugs me that their main engines never turn off when cruising. I did want more space ships and less detective stuff though.I was wondering if Belters were speaking real Creolehttp://expanse.wikia.com/wiki/Belter_CreoleLooking forward to 2nd season on Amazon
1/30/2017 12:05:31 PM
not looking forward to more avasarala in season 2
1/30/2017 12:11:19 PM
I always imagined Bobbie as Gwendoline Christie. Hopefully the actress they cast fills the part well!
1/30/2017 3:30:41 PM
Excited. I loved season 1.
1/30/2017 9:48:20 PM
^^^^ thrust from the engines constant acceleration is what provides their gravity and is why the ships are built like a high rise
1/31/2017 10:47:14 AM
they have to achieve max speed at some point. Is that really their official explanation for their gravity on board?
1/31/2017 7:17:14 PM
The ships thrust halfway there and then they reverse thrust remainder of the distance to stop I think. They have magnetic boots they turn on when not under thrust. [Edited on January 31, 2017 at 7:54 PM. Reason : .]

2/4/2017 10:37:10 PM
don't get me wrong, i love her character in the booksbut the raspy voiced actress is terrible in everything
2/5/2017 12:04:35 PM
Fred Johnson: "I thought I was past all this...sending men to their deaths."Companion: "Was that before or after you killed that guy sending him out an airlock?"
2/6/2017 11:12:53 AM
Avasarala can't even pronounce her own name
2/10/2017 7:01:21 AM
Avasarala in the show sucks compared to how all she is portrayed in the book. Would be a much better character if she was the hard swearing no-nonsense she is in the book.
2/11/2017 2:19:00 PM
I think it's weird that they still make her character Indian but didn't cast an Indian actress or have this terrible actress act Indian
2/11/2017 4:54:10 PM
Do not cross Chrisjen Avasarala. She will see to it your grandchildren and great grandchildren will live horrible lives, and she's the good guy. ^ think you're off in your criticism, she carries an ornateness in her role required of someone that's a very well looked after high-level bureaucrat. To make her character some pretty face with the perfect voice is beneath the show. The character screams brutal application of power and maneuvering under a grandmotherly facade. Also, she is cursing more this season.Got caught up last night. Thing with Julie Mao was out there. A lot of characters are shifting around a lot as far as their roles. This week you saw the bad side of Fred Johnson for instance.[Edited on March 3, 2017 at 9:52 AM. Reason : .]
3/3/2017 9:51:52 AM
i don't think she should be a pretty acress, i think being indian and or just being able to speak without sounding like she she is struggling to chew every word would help. avasarala in the book would talk around and totally outwit someone, but aghdashloo takes minutes to chew out every sentence i fast forward through all of her scenes
3/3/2017 10:20:13 AM
Been binge reading the books, man, Avasarala and Bobbi are way better in the books
