Do people actually take cold showers on purpose? Or is it some euphemism? The only ones I've taken were out of necessity (ie no hot water) and they were pretty miserable. Are there people who do this intentionally?

I took some outdoors during the recent heatwave--they were amazing.

If I've been sweating my balls off in the summer heat/humidity then I typically will start it out lukewarm and end up with the handle all the way cold by the end of the shower.

when i shower in the gym it's on the cold side so that i can cool down
8/13/2015 9:59:35 PM
I'll take a cool shower when it's hot, and I have just finished exercising. And in high school, after track meets, I've had to take ice baths. Also felt good to take cold showers then too.

I have to take one whenever I imagine EMCE in the shower.
8/13/2015 10:07:48 PM
I guess TreeTwista10 doesn't exercise outside.
8/13/2015 11:46:02 PM
I'd rather sit in the air conditioning and drink some water to cool down before I shower.

ITT I learned TreeTwista10 has smelly furniture.
8/14/2015 12:20:02 AM
Maybe not everyone smells as bad as you do after excercising

Jesus, dude is in his 30s and just sits here and trolls and insults people all day....
8/14/2015 12:58:32 AM
ITT I learned that TreeTwista10's dried sweat smells like roses.
8/14/2015 1:51:51 AM
cool strawmanbut seriously you might have some body odor issues if your furniture stinks just from sitting (clothed) on it for a few minutes after working out
8/14/2015 1:56:07 AM
i don't take cold showers
8/14/2015 6:40:56 AM
I tried it for a while when that guy from 'Future Weapons' told Jim Rome that he does it.. You get used to it after a while, but it sucks

I've been trying to take cold showers lately. There's a decent amount of science to support some benefitsReduce Stresshttp://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0891584994900302 weight losshttp://www.wired.com/2013/02/ff-cold-weight-loss/And faster recovery from workouts, increased testosterone, and better sleep, but i don't have the time to find the attributions right now. For about a month, I would take really hot showers and then finish with it set to cold. I'm a zombie in the morning, so it helps to wake me up before getting to work and having some coffee. It's definitely invigorating.

Sure, it'll feel "cold" for about 5-10 seconds, after which time you'll be longing for something colder. Just because there's that temperature differential, doesn't mean it's cold water. That'd be like calling an outdoor pool with 50 degree water a hot tub in the winter time, when the ambient temp is 30°. Temp differential is there, but it's not hot

Cold showers are definitely the way to go with a sunburn.
8/15/2015 9:15:06 AM
Cold showers are the way to go if you're breaking out in an allergic reaction or covered in allergens.I should live in a bubble.
