i dunno. have had some great steaks at home or grilling out or at other peoples' cribs. have had filets from all the high end chains like Morton's, Capital Grille, Del Frisco, Flemings, Ruth's Chris, etc etc. had Kobe in Chicago, 5 star restaurants in NYC, etc. it's like asking Wilt Chamberlain the best pussy he had.

amen, brother. Found myself running over to buenos aires one weekend because I was in Uruguay for work. Everyone talks about Brazil's food. But the meat, potatoes, and wine I had that weekend was the best I've ever had in my life. And it wasn't expensive, either.

ribeye cooked on an old charcoal grill on Core Banks at the south side of Drum Inlet. it probably only stands out in my mind because i was so damn hungry. we had been fishing hard for a couple days with only crap to eat. we went up to the inlet to stake out our spot for some drum fishing that night, so instead of cooking back in camp, we took the grill down there.

You're trying too hard.

Anyway. This thread has inspired me to find a decent steak for lunch.

I've been to Sparks in NYC and Gene and Georgettis in Chicago and they were both really good. I think Beef and Bottle in Charlotte is just as good.

Why does Raleigh not have a good steak joint? There used to be a place called Prime Only near Crabtree that was pretty good in the late 90's early 2000's

best steak is homemade steak with good meat.

If you're looking to impress someone, go to the butchers market and grab a couple "spinellas" (they're a cross between ribeye and filet). Then go home and sous vide them.

It'll change your life.

I can confirm that the spinalis steak (ribeye cap) is out of this world from Butchers Market.
