Will watch. I've been really digging post-Titanic Dicaprio, and I love the genre.

Only judging from that trailer, it looks like Valhalla Rising, but with frontier folk instead of Vikings. Now that isn't a bad thing at all, but that is very much the vibe the trailer gave me.

with a dash of Terrence Malik.

i've heard generally bad things from the ppl i know who've seen it. that it's just too much of a slow stupid bummer.but i dig poetic/lyrical/slow cinema generally.will watch eventually.hopefully it's better than the confusedly cynical birdman.

This is on the internet now

Feeling this is one where the previews will skew expectations leaving people disappointed when it isn't 3 straight hours of non-stop action.
12/21/2015 7:55:01 AM
this movie is great, it's not all action but i never felt like the story was dragging out
12/21/2015 9:20:40 AM
I thought the movie was great. I think it gives you a real sense of what is was to be out in the wild. The filming of this movie must have been absolute hell.

Absolutely beautiful landscape. Good movie, a little long. The bear attack was intense.

Spoilers So was the girl Leo stopped from being pounded by the French dude the Chiefs daughter? Only asking because didn't the cheif and said frenchie deal earlier in the movie while the chief was looking for her? I guess the chief didn't realize at the time the French group had her. Am i missing something? This movie was certifiably badass. [Edited on January 15, 2016 at 11:50 PM. Reason : Y]

I'm glad Tom Hardy also got nominated.
1/16/2016 7:19:15 AM
^the despicableness (and in some ways relate-ability) of Hardy's character is just as pivotal to the plot/movie as Leo's journey is. He played an incredible antagonist I thought, deserving of a nomination. They were both phenomenal in their own respect and owned every scene. ^^ I came out of the movie thinking that and am still wondering the same thing...

Hardy's physical acting always trumps the dialogue. I can't describe it but the best way I can say it is that sometimes seems like his voice is being dubbed over like a foreign film. That said, his performance here was an exception and he crushed it. With regards to the accent, a lot of similarities to Jeff Bridges in True Grit IMO.

Jeeeeeesus Christ, this movie.
1/18/2016 12:52:34 PM
What about it?
1/18/2016 9:10:40 PM
Was awesome
2/10/2016 1:49:28 PM
Apparently it is still making a solid showing at the box office. I'm glad, it's a quality flick.
2/10/2016 3:07:38 PM
Saw it. Only complaint I can think of is the hallucinations/dream sequences. Really jarring cuts to them which sort of took me out of the film.
2/10/2016 3:56:18 PM
the movie was more of a fantasy film. don't get me wrong it was great acting and beautifully shot but the plot and "revenant"ism of it was LOL
6/8/2016 9:59:37 PM
It was good but how does Leo win with this performance when his character couldn't speak for the majority of the movie. Tom Hardy tho boi
6/8/2016 11:33:34 PM
He deserved it for body of work. Oscars do it all the time as well as making statements w/ respect to race, gender, politics
6/9/2016 8:37:09 AM
I don't know what factors go into Oscars, other than having to be white, but if you've read any of the behind-the-scenes for this movie, filming it was apparently hell on everyone. And besides, other actors have won oscars for roles that involved no speaking at all. Still think this was a great flick, one of the better ones for 2016 so far.
