She has probably done more for black people than a lot of her critics, regardless of her race. The way i see it, she may have misrepresented herself, which was wrong. But her misrepresentation seems to be rooted in a very genuine place, i.e., black adopted family members, parents that seemingly welcomed diversity, a general love of the culture, art, etc...The whole thing seems rather silly if one is to take a step back, and realize race is a human social construct, which someone people choose not to acknowledge.

If she wanted to go to Howard, she may have been able to get a minority scholarship by saying she was white.

Q: Do you have some black in you?*has sex with black guy*A: Yes

What I find interesting is the response of the NAACP. That she was not hired because she checked off the African American box on her application and that there have been white people hired into her position before. But is that the PC "equal opportunity employer" response? Or, can the NAACP, by the very nature of its organization, actively engage in biased hiring practices? I don't know, but I can see the merit in that.
6/12/2015 9:17:40 AM
Going by the 1% rule shes black, just like everyone else.Where does it say you need to be black to care about the advancement of colored people? That's like implying someone needs to be gay to stand up for gay rights.[Edited on June 12, 2015 at 9:25 AM. Reason : .]

I'm not saying that. I'm asking if it's permissible to give more weight to applicants that are black than those that are not in an organization designed to promote the welfare of african americans. I don't know the answer to that. As I've already said in this thread, she's done a great job in her position regardless of her genetic makeup, and as the organization has already said, other non-black people have held her position without problems.
6/12/2015 9:41:44 AM
In a roundabout way, that's saying that tgl3, shrike, bweez and clifton are all transgendered, since you know, they stand up for those rights.I agree though, if this woman wants to head up this chapter of the NAACP, and she's done a good job so far (which it sounds like she had), I don't see the big issue here. Yea, she was dishonest, but how many activists have been completely honest when trying to get something done.

are we going to talk about how she's made allegations of being harassed and threatened at every position she's had but police have never found anything? i think this chick is just crazy.

From what i've seen, she's lied about more than just being black, she has a vast web of lies. And wore a wig as part of this.People seem to be upset that she almost made a mockery of the black community, and what the "black experience" is. I get she's done good, and seems to care about the black community, but this seems like a bad representative and an unstable person to have as a leader.from FB:She's lying about being harassed for being black. That's my problem. Black men and women are killed every day just for this skin and she's exploiting it. For that, she's dead wrong.[Edited on June 12, 2015 at 10:56 AM. Reason : ]

This woman isn't crazy. You guys are being too mean. Those "lies" she told were really just her alternate reality. To her they're real, so we shouldn't judge.

^thats just according to you but she is technically of african descent. She mever said her skin color wasnt light. race should never be a qualification for a job. but, lying on a job application seems like the bigger issue. (of course, i don't think race questions should even be on a job application... now I don't know exactly how it was asked. obviously this job deals with race and there could have been essays where they ask "how has race etc impacted your views on blah blah")
