I could be wrong and completely off base but to me it seems that that the sub par Caucasian folk seem to move to remote places lacking law enforcement but the sub par African Americans seem to gravitate toward densely populated areas that have law enforcement entities the size of small armies (literally). Probably to get away from the aforementioned Caucasians. what does tww think?

no one decides where to move to be a criminal, where to be located for your crimes is generally not a decision or intentional act [Edited on April 29, 2015 at 8:02 AM. Reason : .]

shit, go to any rural area in eastern SC and see if that holds true (excluding the "sub par" part)

It's really just based on opportunity and systemic history. The most awful places on the face of the earth were the ghettos in NYC in the 1800s and they were filled with white Irishmen who were oppressed to the point of turning to gangs and crime. Then the Italians after that. Then the African Americans after that.

go to "the wrong side of the tracks" of any shithole in NC... a close one is Rocky Mount.

Racists in the north and largely democratic areas?Maps are false-
4/29/2015 9:40:44 AM
Um it says RURAL northeast. Do you really think those are democratic areas? That's like calling the Central Valley in CA democrat territory because LA is...And is it terribly surprising that in areas that have barely any minorities there is less racism? Jesus Christ, shut the fuck up you sensitive bastard.Next time I'll make sure to add a clever hashtag to make sure your stupid ass isn't offended.
4/29/2015 9:49:24 AM
Offended? Huh?
4/29/2015 9:50:38 AM
...offended that my sarcasm targeted the non-racist urban north, of course.I'll make sure to add a second hashtag for those people who are easily confused.

^^ youre mistaking my comment for me taking offense. It's pretty common knowledge Boston is one of the most historically racist cities in the country but that map was reflecting areas that were clearly rural areas.I guess I should know better than to do anything but throw out ad hominems in Chit Chat though, so shame on me.

It's not a big deal.I'd like to point out that the maps themselves are poor visualizations of an otherwise very interesting study. The polygons in the first one are too large and were obviously utilized for convenience. The buffers in the second one are too large and probably the result of simple interpolation. Fine if you're modeling something like precipitation totals but a little bit dickish if predicting something like racism.Again, the research itself is fascinating but I bet the maps were made by some GIS intern.[Edited on April 29, 2015 at 11:06 AM.
