I think this might be an original thread. Yeah. I've checked, and there aren't any threads like this. None.

So let's totes talk about the new phenomenon of pollen and how it affects your white person.

Weirdest thing ever.

I have had allergies all my adult life, with a runny nose and/or sneezing attacks at least daily, a few times serious enough to qualify as wheezing or minor asthma attacks, or to advance into nasal/sinus infections, no matter what country or city I have lived in.

But for whatever reason, they completely disappeared starting last June after I loved to Louisiana.

Is it Louisiana, or is it my system? TBD when I move from here in a couple of months.

@0EPII1 if you're like me, you probably have a tree allergy (oak) and there aren't much of those trees in LA.

I just started getting allergies a few years ago. They blow.

This is the first year I'm going to give allergy medicine a try...as well as eating local honey. We'll see how it goes.

^^^For the major OTC allergy meds, I'd rank them:

1. Allegra
2. Claritin

3. Zyrtec

Ive always had allergies, but when I moved from Baton Rouge to Raleigh they got way worse. Now Im back in Louisiana in New Orleans and I notice they arent nearly as bad.

So to answer a prior question, pollen just isnt that bad here.

^ Interesting - agrees with my experience. When I was in Raleigh from 2000 to 2002 my allergies were horrible! Runny nose, itching eyes, all the damn time.

It hasn't even really started yet. You are in for a world of hurt if you don't figure out a proper allergy cocktail. Last year I was shooting nasacort and popping Allegra D together. This year I'm only running nasacort and so far so good.

^yeah. Is it over? Hah, it's just begun. I fucking hate this time of year. Another 4-5 weeks of this shit left

I don't so much get all stuffed up from this anymore, but it's all about the eyes. Touch my eyes once and they'll itch for an hour. And regardless of that they feel scratchy all the time because pollen does not get along with my contact lenses.

^^My problem is that I can't take anything with a decongestant in it, or ibuprofen. I can take Tylenol based products, or Claritin (no D). Sounds like I am basically screwed.

Yea you should schedule an appointment with your doctor ASAP. The over the counter non-D stuff is crap imo.

Be careful...karma will get you. I made fun of allergy people for years...then it hit me a couple years ago.

Two days ago I started taking a generic OTC allergy medicine and started putting local honey in my coffee. It seems to be working so far (knocking on wood). Went from blowing my nose about 5 or 6 times every hour...to only blowing my nose a couple times today (haven't done it once today). We'll see how it goes.

local honey works really well, when paired with allergy medicine.

Personally, I carry my anti-pollen rock in my pocket at all times each spring. It really works great, I haven't had any symptoms this season. Also, I take daily Zyrtec.

I'll post a review in a week. I just did some quick searching and will pick up a bottle on the way home for a test.

My idea is to take a hit Nasacort, wait 1 hour and snort a line of pollen.

Repeat 1 day later with Flonase.

i have severe seasonal allergies. like i couldn't mow a lawn or my eyes would swell shut. like i had to lie to the military to get commissioned. got on flonase a few years back. now i can spend 2 hours on the mower and not feel a thing. it's good stuff. i have zero copay for generics, so I still get a script for it, but the OTC is exactly the same.
