Hunter is the coach's kid, right? I mean...he had a couple good games, but that's a little surprising. And his dad is the friggin coach...those kids usually play it out.
3/31/2015 7:40:38 AM
Wasn't Hunter one of the leading scorers in the nation? I know nothing about Georgia State, but thought he averaged 20 or so per game. No clue what his NBA stock is like, though.

^,^^ yeah I was surprised but apparently Chad Ford has him in his top 20.Jordan Mickey – F, LSU (sophomore)D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera - G, Georgetown (junior)

RJ Hunter is considered to be one of the best, if not the best, shooter in this draft.

Lol Tokoto
4/8/2015 9:18:07 PM
Sucks he went pro, he was such a liability. Roy would have gave him 25 plus minutes a game as a senior.
4/8/2015 9:46:41 PM
This thread is useless without agents. Tokotos coming back watch.
4/8/2015 9:47:54 PM
Tokoto's reasoning is basically "i know i'm not good enough to be in the NBA now, but leaving college and going to the D league is my best shot of making it" which is fine reasoning, i guess. But the part the is really head scratching is the notion that UNC - not just any college where he may or may not get much attention or play vs top competition or get HOF level coaching - isn't adequately preparing him for the NBA. weird. seems like there may be more to it. maybe he was looking at a diminished role on the team next year and instead of transferring he decided to go pro.^^yeah - state fans on twitter are laughing it up and everything about UNC losing him. but he isn't very good. i'd much rather brice johnson or marcus pagie or justin jackson leave. he's a good defender who can't shoot. [Edited on April 8, 2015 at 9:50 PM. Reason : f]
4/8/2015 9:48:40 PM
there has been some debate on twitter on if he meant that the "college game" in general wasnt preparing him or if he was talking about unc specifically. that is probably looking too much into it.that list already has over 20 names on it and there are only 30 first round picks, plus seniors. i imagine a lot of those guys come back or maybe the college game really is dying. just let the D-league sign players right of HS.
4/8/2015 10:19:06 PM
there's probably also several kids on there (the one from Gardner Webb, for example) who are OK with "declaring for the draft" so they can start making money playing pro ball overseas.
4/8/2015 10:24:30 PM
If you want to develop NBA skills and you are mature enough to handle it like a job and be a self-starter, d-league or Europe is absolutely the way to go.The NCAA limits and classes get in the way of elite skill development.

4/9/2015 7:50:14 AM
God damn, seven UK players are declaring.Shitty twins, Booker, Towns, Johnson, WCS and Lyles.
4/9/2015 11:44:38 AM
^ Has booker officially declared or is it just one of those foregone conclusions?
4/9/2015 12:13:33 PM
Would be easier to just list who isn't leaving Kentucky
4/9/2015 12:20:48 PM
^^ 2:30 today but seven are and I know Ulis isn't.. Suppose it could be lee
4/9/2015 2:14:56 PM
I have a feeling a couple of those UK guys come back like Johnson and maybe Lyles. Booker, WCS, and Towns are top 15 guys. The shitty twins are gone because they fucked up not going last year and only got worse this year. Both will end up in Europe or D League unless they learn how to shoot.
4/9/2015 4:57:49 PM
Lyles has been projected as a top 20 pick most places
4/9/2015 5:14:07 PM
Gotta figure at least 1 if not 2 or 3 of the top undecided recruits go to UK now.And Harrison twins are Chris Duhon at best in the NBA. I'd like to see one backstab his brother, stay for another year and blow up First Team All American into a lottery pick.[Edited on April 9, 2015 at 11:20 PM. 4/9/2015 11:18:02 PM
Justin Anderson is bye. It's all happening.
4/13/2015 10:15:12 AM
Sweet.
4/13/2015 11:06:16 AM
Although he could conceivably not hire an agent and return to UVA, that would be a huge loss for UVA. Especially considering they're losing Atkins too. Losing their best offensive player & 2 very good defenders.
4/13/2015 11:28:10 AM
Big loss, but let's not forget no one expected them to be as good after losing Joe Harris and Akil Mitchell last year. I still think they'll finish first in the regular season.
4/13/2015 12:03:44 PM
The funny thing about great team basketball is that it doesnt depend on stars.
4/13/2015 12:32:47 PM
You still need dudes to hit shots...and he hit a few last year.
4/13/2015 12:35:33 PM
Harris hit more shots than Anderson. They'll be worse than last year, but it will be enough to have another stellar regular season.[Edited on April 13, 2015 at 1:38 PM. Reason : A]

Didn't he do an April Fools prank saying he was declaring? And now he is actually declaring, kinda messed up
4/13/2015 2:01:24 PM
[BYE] Olivier Hanlan
4/13/2015 2:27:49 PM
I'm at UVA for grad school now and remember hearing about the April Fools Day thing. Was apparently a friend of his who started the rumor on Twitter, that Anderson later denied. I know it's part of Wojnarowski's job to report on these NBA related things, but I still think its pretty shitty to announce these kinds of things before the kid gets a chance to announce themselves.
4/13/2015 3:41:49 PM
I would assume it's people close to the players that know they'll be declaring are the ones who are letting the Wojo's of the world know, or who are letting the people who are letting the Wojo's of the world know?
4/13/2015 3:47:00 PM
Whatever, just glad he's leaving.
4/13/2015 5:37:30 PM
The more leaving that don't play for us, the better.
4/13/2015 9:34:54 PM
so BC is returning two guys averaging ~15 minutes a game and some walkons? yeesh. don't think they're bringing in anyone particularly amazing either.Cliff Alexander – F, Kansas (freshman)Justin Anderson - G, Virginia (junior)Brandon Ashley – F, Arizona (junior)Devin Booker - G, Kentucky (freshman)Willie Cauley-Stein - F, Kentucky (junior)Sam Dekker - F, Wisconsin (junior)Michael Frazier II – G, Florida (junior)Olivier Hanlan - G, Boston College (junior)Montrezl Harrell – F, Louisville (junior)Aaron Harrison - G, Kentucky (sophomore)Andrew Harrison - G, Kentucky (sophomore)Tyler Harvey – G, Eastern Washington (junior)Jerome Hill – F, Gardner-Webb (junior)Rondae Hollis-Jefferson – F, Arizona (sophomore)R.J. 4/13/2015 9:35:29 PM
I dont follow this as much anymore, but is 34 not an inordinate amount of guys leaving? I guess making some money in the D league or Europe is fine for most of these guys over finishing up school seeing as a lot of them probably dont even get drafted.
4/14/2015 8:30:00 AM
Well, you also have to think they're not exactly getting perfect information.
4/14/2015 9:30:38 AM
^That might be partially true. But I don't know how much I buy into that being a huge issue for some of the guys going pro that are borderline draft picks. It's not like these guys are living under a rock and a couple "handlers" or whatever tell them to go pro so they do. They have plenty of information available to make a well-informed decision. Not that every player always does make the most informed decision - but the information is there and available for them to do so. I don't know the ages of some of these guys - but with transfers becoming more and more prevalent, some the "underclassmen" may still be 4 years removed from high school. And much like Lorenzo Brown did, if you're older for your grade it may be in your best interest to go ahead and leave for the pros than stick around and not get paid for another year. I'm sure there are plenty of factors at play here too. Some guys may just hate school and realize that their stock won't rise significantly in one year - so they're better off to at least toil away in the D-League and get a pay check while trying to make the NBA.[Edited on April 14, 2015 at 12:57 PM. 4/14/2015 12:56:54 PM
I think some of them also think that their development at this level has reached it's ceiling. Or a coach's system (like UVA) isn't preparing them for the pros.
4/14/2015 3:39:54 PM
apparently Winslow didn't announce until just now... saw his name on the Wiki page and just assumed I had missed the announcement.Arkansas forward Bobby Portis declared today, which makes 35 (assuming my previous count was right). The previous three years, there have been 44, 48, and 49, so the number is actually down as of now, although there's plenty of time for it to go up.
4/14/2015 4:48:23 PM
you guys wanna hear a funny joke? ezu junior Terry Whisnant is going pro early..............in Europe.....................maybe syria
4/14/2015 4:58:53 PM
ah, forgot about that guy. can't hide away down in Greenville for long while putting up 12.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
4/14/2015 5:05:12 PM
I see Aaron Thomas is on the list for FSU, who is he? I watched them play two games at acc tournament and don't remember him.
4/14/2015 9:52:39 PM
he was their leading scorer last year and for the beginning of this season, then got ruled ineligible for the season around December. thought he signed with an agent back then but maybe not.
4/14/2015 10:16:13 PM
Devin Booker is gonna shoot up the draft boards once scouts see him shoot in drills. Top 10 possibly, similar to Stauskas last year. He'd be a perfect complement to MKG in Charlotte.

is this real life? http://packinsider.com/2015/04/15/gopack-report-trevor-lacey-declaring-nba-draft/
4/15/2015 3:10:59 PM
Based on most of my interactions with players at this level, you would be surprised how most of them think they are nba ready in college, they simply havent had the same luck and breaks as the stars at this level.Once you get to this level, everyone has been a high school star and feel invincible. I dont know tokoto but an example would be for a guy of his ability to look at a guy like winslow and say "im just as good as him and probably better, he gets more publicity because he goes to duke and i shut that #%^# down when we met"Ive even heard this kind of talk from naia players about guys they played against in high school who ended up playing in the nbaBottom line is they all probably thibk they are great.
