Lettuce discuss state economic incentives in the forms of tax breaks, straight cash, etc to attract new businesses to the state. Here in NC its starting to actually become an area of disagreement between McCrory and the NCGA. Obviously, no REAL conservative should be interested in the government picking winners to get extra benefits nor should they be requiring a business to meet certain conditions or else punishing them by rescinding the taxes. It also has the huge potential for abuse (see Rick Perry). But this is 2015, are economic incentives a fact of the world at this point? Do we need them to stay competitive with other states, to create jobs, and to continue the growth of our state? Whats the best way to structure the decision on who gets them and who doesn't?Take a look at other conservative stalwarts with pretty damn big incentive funds: Rick Perry (tx) Rick scott (fl) scott walker (WI) I'm sure there are others. Do we need incentives to compete with these powerhouse states (lol, can't believe I typed that)???
