Couldn't find another thread if there already was one....This movie was a lot of fun, good actions scenes and some really funny moments sprinkled in.Also has a hot swedish princess offering the main character anal if he saves the world, which is definitely a nice incentive.

I might go check this out tonight after the State game

In the theatre to see this now. Surprised the theare is practically full. Hope it's good. Also, all 50 shades showings are sold out. Can't believe it's 2015 and people are still paying money to watch porn

Not what I expected from the previews, lol. I enjoyed it. My wife hated it.
2/14/2015 7:00:50 PM
your wife is pissed b/c you took her to see Samuel jackson yell instead of seeing 50 shades on valentines.

It was pretty good! I only got fatigued, like, three times. And I loved the main kid from the start.Fun movie.(Some critics apparently thought the movie was supposed to be clever or insightful...so they're pretty pissed about it. Also, they were not fans of the anal sex stuff because it was blatantly sexist or something...I dunno...I guess they prefer subtle sexism.)One spoiler: the kid did the right thing by not killing the dog. I know he was supposed to demonstrate the ability to take orders and whatnot, but he was also tasked with doing the right thing...so fuck you, Kingsmen.[Edited on February 15, 2015 at 1:24 AM. The anal thing wasn't sexist, it was making fun of bond always getting the girl at the end
2/15/2015 2:11:02 AM
^^^going to see this was her idea. She can't stand 50 shades
2/15/2015 11:12:27 AM
I've got Samuel L fatigue. No go for me.
2/15/2015 12:59:55 PM
I also wasn't super pumped about Samuel L. Jackson in this one.

^^^^^I hear ya.But, as a send-up/spoof/satirization of the spy genre, this film was so off-key that I wouldn't even judge it on that basis. Plus, the spy genre has been spoofing itself since its inception. So I'm surprised by the number of critics who actually went that route for their analysis...when it was so clearly just a fun movie with loads of (fun) stylized violence and some very obvious messages about class/socioeconomic status. As far as the sexism goes, it seems that some critics preferred implicit messages about sex: Bond just naturally gets the girl(s) because he's "the man." In this film, our hero gets the girl explicitly "in the asshole" because he saves the world. They did take it one obnoxious step too far for me, but in general, I prefer the explicit messages over the implicit ones because they are laid bare to be examined. Again, I'm surprised by the number of critics who want these themes subtly tucked away in a film that's already over-the-top from the jump.

The movie was pretty fun, I admit. I loved prosthetic legs assassin girl. Samuel Jackson felt a little out of place to me, though. Maybe I'm too used to Evil Britons(tm) being the megalomaniacal antagonists? But the McDonald's scene.......complete cringe-inducing cheese.

I enjoyed it. My wife loved it and would see it in theaters again.spoilers:I didn't care for the training portion much; too much time spent on it with little to show for it in the end.The balloon role was a letdown
2/22/2015 2:17:24 PM
I didn't get the McDonald's significance...Is that an allusion to something?
2/22/2015 10:57:43 PM
I thought it was a pretty good flick.

Finally saw this...lots of fun
12/17/2015 3:58:18 PM
Saw it on HBO a few weeks ago. Was really surprised at how good it was. I was expecting another mindless action movie starring whoever the current teen icon is (kinda like Hunger Games but a spy movie instead). Was very pleased with the graphic violence and well choreographed fight scenes. That part when Colin Firth kills like 60 people in the church was great. Also, bonus points for Mark Hamill!Only part I didn't like was also the training stuff. It wasn't so much training, it was more "Let's put these kids in life threatening situations and see which ones make it out". The main kid went from street punk to Jackie Chan without any type of actual hand to hand combat training [that it showed]. Fun/over the top movie though so not a big deal.

^ did you miss the part where he was in the marines and quit despite exemplary marks ??I assume he learned hand to hand combat in the marines.
12/17/2015 5:12:36 PM
They also showed him doing that parkour shit whatever that's worth
12/17/2015 5:42:12 PM
Oh right, I forgot about how the marines teach you how to fight with a super powered umbrella. And how his mother's boyfriend kicked his ass before he became a Kingsman.[Edited on December 18, 2015 at 8:18 AM. Reason : ]

I liked it except for the part BridgetSPK mentions here...
12/22/2015 10:52:40 AM
Thought it was going to be one of those because he didn't kill the dog he actually did the right thing showing loyalty...then it was just like "you wimp you should have killed it."
12/22/2015 11:50:37 AM
the Princess was hot AF. dat boot tho
12/22/2015 5:04:15 PM
Finally got around to watching this the other day, waaaaaay more violent and awesome than I thought it would be. To the comment about parkour, I think Harry mentioned Eggsy had been a world-class gymnast before he went off the rails, so I'm guessing that's where it came from. Kinda bummed that Harry's death was spoiled in the poster for golden circle, got that on my list to watch next.
11/2/2019 11:57:21 AM
^you should watch the 2nd one.
11/2/2019 6:41:44 PM
LMAO getting upset about a spoiler 2 years after the 2nd movie came out.
11/2/2019 10:07:46 PM
it wasn't really a spoiler (obviously you mentioned the poster), it's teased in the trailers as well. i wouldn't stress about it
