When a doctor has his opinion on vaccines changed based on his wife's views who is a chiropractor you know they are worth listening to on the subject. But don't worry, he has a solution, if we follow the paleo diet we will be fine. Because clearly that type of diet eradicated these diseases for our ancestors.
2/5/2015 4:57:11 PM
Vaccines should NOT be mandatory. We should let all of these kids get measles. Fuck 'em and their stupid ass parents. Hopefully they can find a way to let all these people opt out of health care entirely.Maybe Thom Tillis will let measlites eat tax free at all of his shit hands restaurants.I'm Krallum and I approved this message./]

Parents of kids who get the measles or any other disease due to the lack of vaccines should be charged with endangerment.

To put the wife at ease I'll support an alternative vaccination schedule, but our kids are getting vaccinated, end of story.

2/7/2015 11:01:25 PM
The problem with saying "Fuck the kids" is that now we can't....After measles steals their eyesight, or leaves them debilitated we all get to pay for their parents stupid fucking mistakes... Because you, as an american taxpayer get to foot the bill.If you wan't socialized medicine, and healthcare for all then you also have to accept that.
2/8/2015 12:05:12 AM
What if you don't want that and you would like to be able to buy health insurance that is based off of your own actual risk factors? I mean, I know I'm just fucked because that's not allowed and would be racist, sexist, thin privileged, etc. but that's how it should work. The fact that I'm in really good shape, have no family history of heart disease, don't smoke, don't really drink anymore, and am more likely to suffer a torn meniscus than develop diabetes should be what factors into my insurance premiums, not whether or not you vaccinate your stupid kids. Of course, allowing insurance companies to separate people into groups based on risk is somehow evil or something.
2/8/2015 12:17:24 AM
Then they get less money from you. Why would a company want to make less money?
2/8/2015 8:49:21 AM
Well, if they get measles then maybe they can swish some coconut oil for 20 minutes a day and that will pull the measles out of their body.
2/8/2015 10:43:36 AM
yes, both kids fully vaccinatedwell- Our 6 month old isn't old enough for all of his vaccines yet, but we're up to date thus far, and plan to continue that. Why aren't we afraid? My wife and I are both science literate. She even more so than me, as a biochemistry undergrad and physician. Those that are afraid all have a few things in common. One of those is that they have little to no grasp of even middle school level science.
2/8/2015 4:21:36 PM
Yep. Never a second thought on that shit with my two.
2/8/2015 6:56:52 PM
With an immunocompromised child I get irate about people not vaccinating. It's not an issue of choice. It's about public health and to not do so, without a legitimate medical reason is stupid. Plain and simple.
2/12/2015 9:53:02 PM
2/13/2015 9:31:43 AM
shit, i'd argue that's worse. If he knows better and doesn't protect his kids, then what a fucking terrible father.unless his kids have specific ailments/issues that would preclude vaccination--- you didn't say why he didn't vaccinate.
2/13/2015 1:42:16 PM
He doesn't vaccinate due to the manner of the material that the viruses are grown on. Causes cancer and whatnot.
2/13/2015 2:36:09 PM
^ He is an idiot. Multiple studies show vaccines don't cause cancer or autism for that matter.

Give your best reason to give a newborn a HEP B vaccine. Science?
3/3/2015 10:07:51 PM
To prevent them from getting Hep B
3/4/2015 6:30:50 AM
Great answer
3/4/2015 8:15:23 AM
Lol what other answer is there?
3/4/2015 8:44:31 AM
how does one get hep b
3/4/2015 9:02:17 AM
if a infant or small child gets infected, it's very likely that it turns into a serious chronic infection so there is no reason not to get it early. Hep B spreads from child to child, this has been well documented and is an understood risk and is the reason that an early vaccination is recommended. The exact reason for child to child transmission isn't fully understood, but it's believed to be caused by frequent contact of non-intact skin or mucous membranes with blood-containing secretions including, perhaps, saliva.[Edited on March 4, 2015 at 9:18 AM. Reason : that only took me about 30 seconds to learn]
3/4/2015 9:14:33 AM
Ok I get that... So why does a child that's a couple hours old need it? This is why I don't agree with vaccines being mandatory. How can you force someone to inject a chemical into a baby that's only taken a few breaths when it isn't exactly necessary at that point in their life? Also for science to be so great it blows my mind that they can't figure out exactly how it's transmitted from child to child [Edited on March 4, 2015 at 12:37 PM. Reason : Science ][Edited on March 4, 2015 at 12:38 PM. Reason : G]
3/4/2015 12:35:24 PM
i wish there was a way to vaccinate your child from catching your stupidthe primary way that infants get infected is from a mother who is unknowingly infected. was your wife tested for Hep B before giving birth? it's recommended by gynecologists but many women don't do it (and the test isn't perfect), and those who refuse are often those who don't believe they are at risk (because they don't understand that 40%-40% of chronic hep b is acquired during childhood, it's not just some STD that you only get from risky behavior or sharing needles). a vaccination at birth can prevent a mother from unknowingly infecting their infant. While only 30% of children 1-5 infected with Hep B will go onto develop chronic symptoms, 90% of infants will. why do you hate your child so much that you don't want to protect it?[Edited on March 4, 2015 at 1:13 PM. Reason : this took another 20 seconds of reading, i apparently care more about your child than you]
3/4/2015 1:04:12 PM
Ok so why not mandatory hep b test to the mother. Why is someone "stupid" for thinking through things? All vaccines have associated risks. Not because Jenny McCarthy said so but because it says so on the label. As long as there is a risk it shouldn't be mandatory[Edited on March 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Reason : A][Edited on March 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Reason : K]
3/4/2015 1:57:04 PM
there are risks associated with childbirth itself. guess we better stop having births because there is risk involved
3/4/2015 2:20:18 PM
^^ 1) the test isn't perfect so a negative result isn't enough to not vaccinate the child and 2) that is not the only exposure and with 90% of infant infections turning into chronic infections it still makes sense to vaccinate the child. the HepB vaccine is very safe. you have already shown that you are not very informed about the vaccine, what non jenny mcarthy concerns do you have about the vaccine?is hepB vaccine the only "chemical" you are afraid of in your newborn? Did your newborn not also get a vitamin K shot like most? were they not given eye drops to prevent various infections?[Edited on March 4, 2015 at 3:00 PM. Reason : also, the only actual requirement i can find is having it done by 3 months]
3/4/2015 2:52:56 PM
What's the point of the vitamin k shot... Especially in girls. If the baby is bleeding from birth then sure go for it. If your son is being circumcised before he's a week old go for it... Or go without and if the bleeding doesn't stop then give the shot. It's the same effect as if he/she came out bleeding. The "eye drops" you are speaking of is called Erythromycin and it's an antibiotic. If mom doesn't have an std you don't need it but they just slap it in there "just in case" and then overcharge you for it of course. [Edited on March 4, 2015 at 5:56 PM. Reason : T]
3/4/2015 5:44:01 PM
Your infant is at greater risk dying on the way to get the shot than he is from the shot itself
3/4/2015 6:06:41 PM
3/4/2015 8:28:26 PM
My wife doesn't have an STD so we decided against the standard proceedure. Guess they assume every woman has an std[Edited on March 4, 2015 at 8:36 PM. Reason : U]
3/4/2015 8:35:56 PM
3/4/2015 8:59:32 PM
also, as mentioned earlier ITT, about 40% of HepB cases start in early childhood, without the risky behavior that the term "STD" implies[Edited on March 5, 2015 at 12:54 AM. Reason : and it can be transmitted from baby to baby, not just mother to child
