Hayes-Barton is nice, and their desserts beat a lot of the regular places. Check for a reservation quick because they do a whole fixed price thing.

We've also done
- Mandolin
- St Jacques
- Second Empire

All were great and had wonderful service

v has an excellent point

pro-tip, do valentines dinner the night before or after and have stay-at-home sexy time on the actual day. on valentines day all the restaurants charge you more money for a limited prix fixe menu, unless the courses are really what you want it's better to go a different time.

The last Saturday Valentines I worked at The Cheesecake Factory there was a 4 hour wait and we didn't take reservations. So don't go there.

If you're over 25, you should stop taking your significant other out for dinner on Valentine's Day.

That's what I was going to recommend, but it's a small place and doesn't do reservations for parties less than 4 (maybe 6, can't remember)...so if you do want to go there, go early and/or be prepared for a long wait.

+1

But my wife likes Brio Tuscan Grille. Thats usually her selection if she wants to go somewhere outside the norm.

Taking the wife to a comedy show/dinner at the comedy zone in clt. Not hoping to get any just not hoping to have to come home early because the baby is revolting against grandma.

I got my reservation at Angus Barn on Feb 13.

Way less crowded, plus its engagement anniversary, so pretty much I never have to do Valentines on the 14th again.

isn't there some sort of law that if you give her an engagement ring on a holiday its considered a gift, and therefore you cant get it back if you breakup before wedding?

None of those are terribly expensive, but still a nice night out, IMO.

Aw bummer! I see no problem in it, if it's what you want! Admittedly though we usually end up going out some other night around that time and staying in on the actual night, OR go somewhere low-key that isn't particularly "nice".

I feel like the Valentine's day sex wouldn't be as good if you were stuffed to the brim with steak from Brasa, at least for her

Cafe Luna, Vinnies, or St. Jacques has my vote.

Everyone on here hates the Angus Barn for some reason, but I don't think you can go wrong there.

Can't really go wrong with any of the restaurants in North Hills, but here would be my recommended 5:

Flights (Renaissance Hotel)
Mia Francesca
Vivace
Coquette
Cowfish

Machu Picchu Peruvian Restaurant off Wake Forest Rd. I rarely go out to eat because value vs cost but this place was FANTASTIC! Owned by a husband and wife, the wife is the Chef and was educated at Johnson and Wales.
