i was thinking recently that since it's 2015, there should be a phone/tablet-controlled all-in-one home automation and security systemmy goals (in no particular order): - thermostat control - home security (alarm system including cameras, interior IR, and door/window sensors) - lights - fixed, central control panel - wireless (i don't want to run wires other than for the control panel/thermostat...i don't mind replacing batteries in the components)i've read about stuff like z-wave (a wireless connectivity protocol?) and wink (a hub that manages various protocols?), but i'm not sure what to even look forideally, i'd buy the individual components (light switches, power adapters, sensors) and control them with a dedicated android device (i have a spare 5" smartphone and 7" tablet, both running KK, which i'd be happy to mount on the wall, maybe replace my thermostat panel?)thoughts? suggestions?

You're cool with your home security products being battery powered?I would think you'd have to look for something already open sourced else you're going to have a tough time establishing communication the device.
