Thank you for starting thisI, too, just want one to play around with and take some cool shots with a gopro. Is 1k the bottom of the market for these?

Sadly I think so. I really want one myself to do some aerial photos/videos. I have a small quadcopter that was about $80, but it won't pick up shit and has a battery life of only 7-10 minutes. It is fun for practicing flying, but it does not have any POV or video. I think DJI has the cheapest drones for decent videos.

There's a few smaller quadcopters that have a 720p camera that's not...horrible. can get it and spare batteries for a hundred bucks or so, but beyond that you do need to step up to a dji one.

with all the "hottest christmas toy" remarks this year, waiting to see if a major airliner has a crash due to one over the next week.

Got a phantom fc40. Complete surprise from my father. After getting it stuck in a tree then watching YouTube videos I now know how to fly it

I got myself one of those tiny $25 micro drones. Holy hell those things are hard to fly, fun though.

I think I'm gonna grab a Blade Nano QX and a Spektrum DX6i to mess around with.
