when people are unable to look beyond their own biases, preconceived notions, and hate, and are therefore unable to be objective and scientific in their analysis of fact and evidence. Most people lack the academic honesty, curiosity, and critical thinking skills to mold their beliefs to the evidence available, as opposed to trying to contort the evidence to fit or justify their beliefs.Yes, this has to do with you-know-what, but this also applies to so much more in society as well: religion, science, politics, etc[Edited on November 25, 2014 at 6:58 AM. This is why electives in college are so important. All that time spent discussing various topics and scenarios helps people become objective and open minded.

^^Do you think the people rioting are college-educated? Not likely. College is part of the problem as much as it is part of the solution because it is a part of the bigger problem of inequality.[Edited on November 25, 2014 at 7:47 AM. Reason : Not sure if serious or...]

because everyone is supposed to (or even wants to) go to college?
11/25/2014 7:49:49 AM
Yup. All those buildings were set on fire last night because the citizens of Ferguson didn't put in enough humanties and social science credit hours while they were in college. Don't get me wrong, I certainly agree with your, but you are making your point to a group of people here that all share a common experience by going to school. The people rioting last night and a large majority of the people who see Wilson as a murderer have a much different perspective.

What data would you like? Would you like for me to survey the folks rioting last night and see how many are college educated?
11/25/2014 10:59:49 AM
Murderer or not every killer should at least go to trial. A not guilty verdict is one thing but completely overlooking a killing is disrespectful.
11/25/2014 11:00:21 AM
It was a justified kill, not a murder.

No I don't, that's how the system works when the accused party is black. The point of a grand jury is to see if there's probable cause to bring charges, not weight all the evidence and have a mock trial.[Edited on November 25, 2014 at 12:15 PM. Reason : .]

When a prosecutor wants a indictment do you think they go in and layout all the evidence? You can't be that damn stupid.
11/25/2014 12:20:10 PM
A prosecutor does have to present some evidence. They may not analyze everything if it's clear cut, but they do present evidence and take witness testimony.[Edited on November 25, 2014 at 12:27 PM. Reason : Source: I am an attorney]
11/25/2014 12:26:03 PM
Yes the present evidence, but you and I both know that if you want a certain outcome you know how to get it. In all honesty its not really worth a debate, I knew nothing was going to happen to this cop when I first read about this story months ago. This is how the US justice system works. Best thing for young black men to do is have 0 interaction with cops.
11/25/2014 12:31:40 PM
A good way to avoid interactions with the cops would be not to rob a convenience store and then reach into a cop car and call the cop a pussy.
11/25/2014 12:33:00 PM
@synapse Yes, I'm furious bro. Just furious. I can barely type this out. You made a dumb remark and got called out for it. Some men would swallow their pride and admit that they didn't actually read what I wrote rather than doubling down with more ignorant pot shots from left field. But no, I'm not mad about it. That's on you.

i'm not a lawyer so someone correct me if i'm wrong, but as far as i know the point of a trial is not to give all of the evidence to the public and let them decide.
11/25/2014 9:40:17 PM
^ That is a benefit of a trial, sir. Unfortunately, this whole debacle never made it to trial.
