when people are unable to look beyond their own biases, preconceived notions, and hate, and are therefore unable to be objective and scientific in their analysis of fact and evidence.

Most people lack the academic honesty, curiosity, and critical thinking skills to mold their beliefs to the evidence available, as opposed to trying to contort the evidence to fit or justify their beliefs.

Yes, this has to do with you-know-what, but this also applies to so much more in society as well: religion, science, politics, etc

This is why electives in college are so important. All that time spent discussing various topics and scenarios helps people become objective and open minded.

^^Do you think the people rioting are college-educated? Not likely. College is part of the problem as much as it is part of the solution because it is a part of the bigger problem of inequality.

Yup. All those buildings were set on fire last night because the citizens of Ferguson didn't put in enough humanties and social science credit hours while they were in college.

Don't get me wrong, I certainly agree with your, but you are making your point to a group of people here that all share a common experience by going to school. The people rioting last night and a large majority of the people who see Wilson as a murderer have a much different perspective.

Murderer or not every killer should at least go to trial. A not guilty verdict is one thing but completely overlooking a killing is disrespectful.

personally my spirited conversation I had with a teaching assistant on November 13, 2003, is the only thing that keeps me from marching with Al Sharpton each morning

It has nothing to do with my overall level of education, socio-economic status, religious beliefs, and overall sentiment toward society

Religion is fake. Best form of mind control ever created.

Whites used religion to enslave blacks, now blacks use religion as a crutch for everything.

You clearly don't understand our justice system. (google "Grand Jury" when you get a moment.)
and
You clearly didn't put much thought into this statement. Do you really think anything good comes from dragging all crime victims who kill someone in self defense through a lengthy court case? The lawyer fees, court system costs, work missed by jurors, etc. would amount to $billions. And for what? So we can punish the victim again?

This type of knee jerk reaction gets us nowhere.

And here is a different witness, whose witness number is not given in the transcript, saying that Brown had "stopped" and "wasn't doing anything" when Wilson fired the last round of shots:

That witness repeatedly describes Brown looking at his own hands, apparently seeing the blood from the first time he was shot. By this account, Brown was "stunned" and he appeared to be surrendering:

If only our legal system offered some way to publicly weigh the testimony of different eyewitnesses who contradict each other—a sort of "trial" of the evidence, if you will."

Is Darren Wilson every killer? No? Then shut the fuck up.

Are you advocating that we get rid of the Grand Jury system and proceed to trial in every instance, regardless of probable cause?

No I don't, that's how the system works when the accused party is black.

The point of a grand jury is to see if there's probable cause to bring charges, not weight all the evidence and have a mock trial.

When a prosecutor wants a indictment do you think they go in and layout all the evidence? You can't be that damn stupid.

A prosecutor does have to present some evidence. They may not analyze everything if it's clear cut, but they do present evidence and take witness testimony.

Yes the present evidence, but you and I both know that if you want a certain outcome you know how to get it. In all honesty its not really worth a debate, I knew nothing was going to happen to this cop when I first read about this story months ago. This is how the US justice system works. Best thing for young black men to do is have 0 interaction with cops.

A good way to avoid interactions with the cops would be not to rob a convenience store and then reach into a cop car and call the cop a pussy.

@synapse Yes, I'm furious bro. Just furious. I can barely type this out.

You made a dumb remark and got called out for it. Some men would swallow their pride and admit that they didn't actually read what I wrote rather than doubling down with more ignorant pot shots from left field. But no, I'm not mad about it. That's on you.

Do you realize that your entire argument rests on the bolded part which you completely made up and which only you believe? OP clearly said "every killer" and not "Darren Wilson" in his post, nor had any other mention of Darren Wilson been made up to that point. I really don't know how you concluded that I was talking specifically about Darren Wilson, but you're the one who called me out in the first place so I felt the need to respond.

I think it is pretty clear at this point (not that it wasn't before, but whatever) that I was referring to victims who shoot someone in cases that are clearly self defense and not Darren Wilson specifically.

I'm not too sure this actually happened. It would have been great if there was an actual trial where people could have heard testimony from a variety of sources, as opposed to a DA cherry picking 'evidence' and being like: "here guys. look over this stuff for the next few months. i'm not going to say anything either way, i'll let you decide how ridiculous this all sounds "

i'm not a lawyer so someone correct me if i'm wrong, but as far as i know the point of a trial is not to give all of the evidence to the public and let them decide.
