First switch of the night in the Senate: Shelley Moore Capito (Rep.) takes over the seat of the retiring Jay Rockefeller (Dem.) in West Virginia.

Pennsylvania governor Jim Corbett was upset by his challenger. There was a grassroots effort to oust him because of his role in the Joe Paterno thing... Incumbents having a rough go of it: Virginia Senator Warner, Florida Governor CristIncumbents that look like they'll win: North Carolina Senator Hagan, New Hampshire Senator Shaheen
11/4/2014 8:19:09 PM
Crist is a former Gov, but not the incumbent. Also, last polls I saw were dead-even.
11/4/2014 8:34:44 PM

11/4/2014 9:03:55 PM
Warner is a shock. Was polling 10 pts ahead. Now will prob go to recount
11/4/2014 9:20:19 PM
Virginia: Democratic incumbent Mark Warner, expected to win much easier, is with most of the vote in still behind former George W. Bush staffer Ed Gillespie. The remaining parts of the state to report are Democrat-leaning, but Warner may lose this. This is probably going to have a recount regardless. With 87% in, Gillespie is up 6400 votes.New Hampshire: Democratic incumbent Jeanne Shaheen has win.North Carolina: Not called yet, but knowing the North Carolina political map and seeing the colors of counties, Democratic incumbent Kay Hagan I think will win.Kansas: Independent candidate Greg Orman and Republican candidate Pat Roberts are tight.Louisiana: uses a French-style jungle primary. If no candidates gets 50% plus one, it goes to a runoff next month. There will be a runoff between Democratic incumbent Mary Landrieu and one of the two Republican candidates Bill Cassidy.Republicans needed 6 seats to take control of the Senate. They have 3 so far having taken the seats in West Virginia, Arkansas, and South Dakota....and there's always a tight election in Florida. The governor's race is within 1%.
11/4/2014 9:46:25 PM
4th pickup for the Republicans as CNN calls Montana for the Republican candidate.
11/4/2014 10:01:19 PM
Renee Ellmers is an idiot. Those of you who vote in NC District 2 are bigger idiots.
11/4/2014 10:02:24 PM
^ Before I moved to Indiana, I used to vote in NC-2. Then in 2012 when they redistricted they put me and a lot of Rocky Mount in the majority black NC-1 district because northeastern North Carolina lost population, in turn making NC-2 more conservative. It was the district for Etheridge (a traditional country Democrat) until 2010 when he lost in a landslide year.
11/4/2014 10:06:05 PM
Is Clay Aiken really better then Renee? I was not impressed by either choice when I went to vote. Also Tillis has a 2% lead with 81% reporting.[Edited on November 4, 2014 at 10:08 PM. Reason : ]

CNN analysts arguing about most of the Democratic candidates choosing to not have Obama stump for them. Shaheen in New Hampshire has been declared the winner by the news networks but her gap from actual votes counted keeps going down. She's now up only 3900 votes with 60% in.Republican pickups #4 and #5 in Montana (expected) and Colorado (where Senator Udall has been defeated), one more net pickup will get them the Senate.Republicans will take the Senate.Warner is up 2500 votes with 92% of the vote in. Tillis is up 33000 votes with 86% of the vote in.[Edited on November 4, 2014 at 10:29 PM. Reason : .]

With CNN reporting 1 seat left needed, and they havent called NC which is pretty much won now, I think its over. GOP takes.

60% in now in Meck, 117 of 195 precincts. Been slow all night in Mecklenburg. But a large number of outstanding precincts are in GOP strong northern part of the county, although Dem leaning UNC-Charlotte area is still outstanding as well.
11/4/2014 10:37:38 PM
Lenoir is also 80% and all thats left is the farm areas which is probably GOP supporting. Columbus Co is no where near wilmington. Id ignore it.Craven has been in. It went to Thom. Should TWW be the first major media outlet to call the race for Tillis?
11/4/2014 10:47:23 PM

11/4/2014 10:57:54 PM
161 precincts now reporting in Mecklenburg and Hagan is losing ground, she's less than 59% now.
11/4/2014 10:58:04 PM
50000 votes and 109 precincts left to report. As the last precincts are coming in the gap is not going down."We at The Wolf Web Soap Box have a breaking news projection:*cue dramatic musicWe at The Wolf Web Soap Box now state that Thom Tillis is the Senator-Elect for North Carolina, defeating Kay Hagan."

11/4/2014 11:22:06 PM
Hagan had a 70% chance of wiNning, so it's a pretty big upset for thillis to win (if he does win). That means democrats would then only have a 3% of keeping the Senate.
